Even though some flop eras r my favorite better than some successful pieces that artists put out For example blackout by britney is a very fun and dark album but the songs on it live rent free on my mind more than her big hits infact I like rebel heart by madonna or mdna and american life and hard candy They all r in lower madonna sales but i love them sm Sooooo sales cannot affect the impact of one album

Its kinda insulting to call Michael jacksons last Album in the early 2000s a failed Comeback, when he still selled Millions with his Album and peaked no 1😂😂😂 You obviously doesnt know what a failed Comeback means if you put MJ with JLo on one list
@aziatix1168
@aziatix1168 24 күн бұрын
Her first smash hit was Michael Jackson's reject and he passed on the song only cause he thought the song would turn out more successful with female singer singing it. I think she's entitled to be compared to the biggest cause a) when you're getting reject songs from the King of Pop for your sophomore album and b) when the Queen and Princess of Pop want to do a performance with you (2003 AMAs with Madonna and Britney; JLo was originally to perform with them but she had to pass on it because she was shooting the movie) this means you actually A BIG PERSON in the industry. Rihanna has never had stage presence nor enormous voice no songwriting skills, she was blessed with connections, Jay-Z and an access to the best music producers in the world- no one says shit about her.
@Manu-gf3yl
@Manu-gf3yl 23 күн бұрын
@@aziatix1168 thats a pretty low reason u putting out🤣 First of all didnt MJ passed any song to JLo (idk where u get this from) but its more likely someone who wrote what ever song to MJ and he rejected, was then passed to JLo or who ever u reffer to. Therefore: u saying RiRi has no Talent while JLo cant even sing, is the funniest thing i read today🤣 But yeah, go ahead and share some more wisdoms
@aziatix1168
@aziatix1168 22 күн бұрын
@@Manu-gf3yl well, what I wrote was truth, I didn't say Michael directly passed the song to JLo, I said it was Michael Jackson's reject, so it turns out you're just a retard and can't read properly and in addition you're wasting your time on shading 55 years old woman online, what a downfall of a human. Rihanna has "some" vocal ability, but early on in her career her voice was horrendous, she wasn't even trying during her Diamonds World Tour, AMA's (or VMAs, idc, where Drake was giving her a tribute, and she friendzoned him publically, what a shady iconic Queen B (irony) ) 2016 or SuperBowl 2023, im sorry but walking side to side on the scene, lazy dance sequence, grabbing your crotch and singing half-playback is half of Rihanna's perfromances career...and that's a shame. She was blessed with Jay-Z who gave her an access to the best songwriters and music producers in the world, and if you had common logic you would admit just like disilusional people that Rihanna is a true definition of industry plant. Go hate on granny JLO, apparently- this is what you best at- shading someone. Go phuck yourself.

About Aguilera, when you have a prodigious voice, sold over 43 million albums, and over 85 million records, and have 6 grammys, and two successful world tours with multi-million dollar sales, you obviously don't need to try very hard. Just name calling Avril Lavigne’s albums flops is ignorant for two main reasons: 1- After « The Best Dammed Thing » her marketing shifted more towards Asia (especially Japan) rather then states. Some of those « flops » albums were gold and/or Platinium over there. 2- since she got sick, she reduced her activity drastically and isn’t trying to be a chart topper.
@Ralph-id3xg
@Ralph-id3xg 17 күн бұрын
@@IanRoseMusic Each country has their own certification rules and system. Number of units required for "Gold", "Platinium", etc. differs from a country to another. The value of units is also different from a country to another (by example, American Billboard counts digital downloads and streaming as sales, Japanese Oricon only counts physical copies).

As a big fan of Avril Lavigne, i rather forget that Head above water was a comeback, some songs don’t sound like Avril, and it has a lot of cheesy love songs while the message she wanted to spread is about overcoming hard times in life. I think Shakira "Don't Wait Up" (2020) should be here, remember that in 2019 Shakira announced that she was working on her new studio album and at first she said that it would be in English, unfortunately for her, the lead single was a flop on the charts and went unnoticed by the English-speaking public, so Shakira had no choice but to cancel the album and have to return to making Spanish music to at least have a stream from Latin America, her only faithful market

I feel like the industry changed so much like you can release today songs and in Album and nobody cares in 5 years some of the songs go viral, and the Album becomes a commercial success. The Problem is people pay sooo much intention on the first week sale that's the reason people don't even really listen to music when it first comes out. To say this person fell off and will never chart again sounds bananas because the industry rules changed, you can not even control which songs go viral after years soo

Not sure if it matters but: Tori Amos. Tori was a massive name in the 90s and 00s for female singer-songwriters. She ended up with some six back-to-back Top 5 albums -- a huge feat for an artist whose music only ever played on adult contemporary radio -- until 2009, when she decided to sign with classical label Deutsche Grammaphone. There was no reason for her to leave Atlantic Records. She had full creative control and split her masters with the label. But her PR essentially painted the Deutsche move as a major artistic direction, allowing Tori full control over every aspect of her records and no pressure to maintain the same sounds or elements of music cohesively across past and future projects. Tori released a holiday themed record in 2009 which, as is typical for those records, debuted at the bottom of the Billboard 200. But her follow-up studio album in 2011 -- painted as Tori's usual concept album but much much more complex and engaging than she would've been permitted to do at Atlantic -- ended up peaking at like #24, a HUGE drop from her 9th and 10th albums at #5 in 2007 and #7 in 2009. It ended up selling less than 1/3rd of what Abnormally Attracted to Sin *debuted* with. So, from 50-70k first week to barely 30k overall. Sadly, her 2014 record debuted just as poorly. Come 2017, Native Invader debuted at #69. and 2021's Ocean to Ocean didn't even chart.

In my opinion, I think the only reason Avril’s later stuff was labeled a flop is because of the ridiculous ass fans that think that she’s not really her! That she’s been “cloned”. How stupid! If ppl would get their heads outta their assess long enough to see that all that happened was she grew up, than things would be very different! She wasn’t going to stay the same forever! Nobody is who we were when we were teens! We all grow up! But they can’t except that and because they’d rather believe the ridiculous idea that she was cloned rather than she grew up, they didn’t want to buy her music and even give it a chance. And it’s pretty good. Yes, it’s different. But different isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But ppl with their heads up their butts are!

In just two years from now Taylor Swift will mark her 20th anniversay self titled debut album. That will make her a true nostalgic act in two years. Can anyone name a single music artist who has been in the business 20 years and is still on top of the music charts and selling out arenas? No and that will be what will happen to Taylor Swift. A new version of Taylor Swift will replace the OG on the music charts in a few years. That's how the music industry cycle goes.

Madonna never tried to come back, she always was and always is that supreme female artist above all, proved herself years ago, lost general popularity on the airwaves in the mid 2000s but that's because of ageism. We're lucky she is still making pop music in her mid 60s

But how much did Love Sux sell? I will look it up and insert it here, because that's what I was interested in. As someone who loves Avril's music, both self titled and Head Above Water were let-downs, but Love Sux is an amazing album and probably even on par to some of her earlier work. It was #9 on the Billboard 200 with 30,000 units sold in the first week, so both of those statistics are higher than Head Above Water, but only just slightly.

number 4 on bb 200 being considered a flop is just insane they really supposed to have the same momentum of success on every song, I would imagine this type of pressure is what takes the fun out of being an artist. fuck that

Sad, when it's J.lo, Melissa/Avril, and Christina Aguilera. They don't use dynamic singles anymore or a story. Instead of trying to understand why Taylor Swift is on top right now.

Michael Jackson PASSING AWAY is NOT a failed comeback in relation to others that made comebacks and it wasn't well received over all and made barely any money. I'm almost CERTAIN that if he were alive for that tour, it would've been successful like the others. This was just a wasted portion of the video.

AVRIL music is way much better than OLIVIA on her new album only VAMPIRE is good the rest nah.....!!! CHRISTINA, MARIAH , CIARA , PINK , ALICIA , JLO etc. these girls already have status in the music industry. MEGHAN, CHARLIE PUTH , KATY , CAMILA , SELENA , DEMI, SHAWN etc these artists struggle now to make hits on the charts it seems that their FAME did not last long.

@@filipepedro8272 maybe. But she definitely did not "design" pop music lol. If she did she would be able to sell concert tickets today. She was always 85% PR hype. 15% talent. Janet Jackson is STILL selling out concerts because she's talented.

Her label RCA (former label now) is horrible at promoting their artists...now that she's signed to a different label and also with Roc nation, any further projects she does should be pushed like they deserve to be. But I do agree to a certain degree that I feel she may be traumatized from her debut era (remember it was a different time and the media l didn't value mental health or women back then) and she may not want to be THAT successful again
