As an icu consultant I always make sure an attendant who understands the situation I talk to him. If there is no such person I always explain them in their language and then ask them to explain me back what they have understood.. most of the times lack of understanding creates problems in the icu

Demonstrated very well 👏. However, in the Indian setup, the harsh reality is that there are very few consultants who spare time and have the patience to answer all the queries raised by patient relatives and bystanders. One of the reasons for this maybe due to immense patient load at hopistals and the stress that residents and doctors in our country are going through round the clock, unlike in the West, where treating clinicians spend adequate time in counselling, most probably, due to the limited number of patients and better working conditions. Hoping that all of us, belonging to the medical fraternity, improve our communication skills with our patients and their near and dear ones.

My real uncle met a road traffic accident,, and me being a mbbs graduate , having zero experience of critical care ,, this video reminded me of that incidence... Exactly same talks happened as shown in this video... Sadly i couldn't do anything to save him,, i still feel that onus on me,, that why i was so illiterate in the field lf critical care ..

Well highlighted. This is an important aspect of clear communication , to prevent unpleasant altercations. Better stance ,honesty & sincere body language will mitigate any medicolegal issues. 😅 Enjoyed the behind the scenes bungling!😂

We also record the counseling session we do. So in emergency even if they give oral consent we have proof. Though unless written consent is given it is of no value I think

yes, but recorded counselling helps a lot incase something goes wrong.
