A real trip down memory lane - Thanks. Did a 2yr trip around Oz over 30 years ago on my XR600 and had forgotten what it felt like. Vibrations, sound of the bike, your own shadow following, little adventures and cruising into small towns after loooong days. Spent 5 days in the Simpson navigating with a compass. Would make a good KZbin adventure!

@Nat Cull, sounds like an awesome trip. I can’t wait for my around Oz trip when I can afford to take time off work. It will happen though for sure. I reckon there are heaps of guys with epic adventures pre GoPro era that would of made for awesome footage. On the big XR600 as well. Good stuff.

Well done! Subscribed. Love your channel. You are mostly responsible for my purchace of a used DR-Z400. Thanks. I started out wanting the DR-650 but wanted a lighter weight. Everyone talks about how tough both bikes are but you really prove that DR-Z can get it done! If it can haul your big ass across a desert it's good enough for my 180lb(81kg) ass. It rocks the way you work with what you have in that tiny garage and wrench on your own bike. Your right about if you cant fix it in your own garage you don't stand a chance in the outback. Keep those videos coming!

Great video and love the clarity of the video. Did the same trip on my outfit a few years ago. Couple of tips. Invest in a fly net that goes over your head. There are a lot more hints but I ride sidecars so i'm cheating :)

@The_Apprentice_Adventurer3 жыл бұрын
@reksubbn, haha me neither. My brain never works properly on these adventure rides. 😉 I also enjoy enduro riding where a strip the 400 to bare minimum and trailer it to where ever I’m riding. I have an adventure setup and enduro setup. I can’t justify two bikes at this stage in my life so the DRZ400 has been the perfect all rounder for me. I ask a lot from it where most other bikes would of suffered in one way or another trying to do it all, so I just stick to my trusty old 400. A bigger bike would be nice but is useless to me on big hill climbs and tight single trails. I Use to own a f800gs so I know what a bigger bike is like, wasn’t for me. 👍

@@reksubbn3961 bit of bad language countered acted with the underwear. That’s a win right there. I think some people must think I swear all day every day. It’s more just the emotions speaking. While I’m riding I have no idea what I’m saying until I review it after the trip. I just ride and speak as I go, no time for second takes or rehearsal just raw footage. Generally if I am swearing it’s because at the time it’s just so full on that that’s how it’s expressed. Something like that 👍

@Campbell Stubbs, apart from the extremely hard ground it was awesome to have the spot to myself. Came across it completely by chance to. 👍

Amazing watch. Came across your channel completely by chance. More than anything was taken back by your humility and always being positive - something I’ll take forward when I do a big adventure. Oh, and what you paid for fuel would be considered extremely cheap here in the UK :D.

@Scott Harrison, thanks mate, yeah it’s all good stuff when on the bike. I always try and enjoy it no matter what.

Mate great video, I felt like I was sitting on the back with you. I just finished a 10,200k ride on a Harley with a mate of mine form Melb to SA, NT, QLD, NSW and back home, I know what you mean about head winds and fuel as we had a couple of close ones nearly running out with only .5 off a litre left, we took the bikes on places that a Harley probably should not have been on. Its a great country and as you said make the most of it while you can. I'm 62 and still feel like a young guy but you can defiantly feel the acks and pains. Sorry your old man couldn't have joined you. All the best.

@Peter Guertler, geez that’s a big trip. Sounds awesome. Hearing that your 62 and still out there chasing it gives me hope for my years to come. That’s what I like to hear.
