I recommends for d4 the london and they queens gambit, and for black the Kings Indian

Forget about the French and learn a real competitive opening, like Sicilian for e4. By the way, if your opponent plays 1.d4 and you play 1.e6, that it NOT the French. Its the Horowitz, and it won't transpose into a French if your opponent doesn't play ?.e4 at some point.

I stick to a mega ultra basic, e4, bc4, nc6 or nf6, nf6 or nc6, d3, bg4 (unless my opponent defended. If he did, I castle), and then the game starts.
