I used to make easy jellies using bottled grape juice (regular and white) for work. They flew out of the basket and spouses started asking "if the jelly lady" would make jelly again next year, lol. My sister found my nephew hiding in the pantry eating a jar with a spoon. So true that homemade gifts are special to make and receive. And Happy Birthday :). Mine was this last week.

I made a jam using a mixture of berries from my freezer, the last cup of homemade blackberry cordial, and whole spices (clove, cinnamon, cardamom, black peppercorns). I cooked that until the berries broke down and spices infused. The spices and berries were strained to remove all seeds into a glass measure, then I cleaned my pot, added my mixture back in, and then the pectin and sugar. The result was a beautifully flavored rich berry jam that I absolutely love.

Happy Birthday Jess! My elder Italian American friend said they would save their leftover wine until they had enough to make jelly. Nothing went to waste. I’m going to make some of your recipe. I’ve also been toying with the idea of a garlic, rosemary white wine jelly. I think it would be good with cheese or as a glaze for chicken or pork. The funny thing is I love making jams and jellies, but I rarely eat it. So most of them end up as gifts!

My soon-to-be 34 year old daughter's birthday is December 18th. Her daddy's birthday is December 22nd. Her daddy joked with me that I should ask the doctor to 'wait' until the 22nd for my planned C-section so they could share a birthday 😅 My response was 'h*ll no, get this thing😊 out of me'. All jokes aside, I (we split when she was 3) have ALWAYS made it a point to wrap her birthday gifts in birthday paper and celebrate it the week before, to avoid the "one present" scenario due to it being 1 week before Xmas. My birthday is also very close to Christmas. My mom made it so special when I was a young kid. It kind of gets forgotten in my older years. I really do think that giving food baskets to my friends at this time of year is just the best thing to do. I always make pans of potato enchiladas for gifts. It has become a thing. Happy Birthday Jess! 13 Crimes is a great wine that is easy drinking. I used to make red, white, rose, etc. wine jellies 20 years ago. I have not made it in a long time. Thanks for reminding me about making it for gifts. I would not multiply this recipe. There is never a failure with jelly. Just call it sauce instead. We always called the boil a rolling boil. I have always used wine jelly over a block of cream cheese, with meat and cheese trays, or whatever my heart desires.
