YUI is known for her talent in creating many catchy songs, her unique vocals, multi-instrumentalist, stage charisma, simplicity, and her beauty, making her a singer who can be considered excellent and well-rounded. I personally got to know YUI after watching "Taiyou no Uta" movie, in which she played the lead role. In the movie, she performed several songs that captivated me and got me intrigued by her talent which also start to make me follow her career journey. She grew up in a single-parent family without father, and despite having to drop out of school due to continuous illness, at a very young age (Under-17), she began composing many songs and learning to perform on the streets, and eventually catching the attention of a record company. There are many great singers today like Ado, LiSA, Aimer, and others, whose singing prowess is beyond doubt. But imo, there's no one quite like YUI. Apart from being a composer and the writer of dozens of memorable songs from her teenage years, every time she sings with her guitar, whether on stage or on the streets, her charisma is unparalleled; especially when she sings an acoustic version of her songs such as Goodbye Days, Tokyo, I Feel My Soul, etc. Her dedication to music and hard work will also earn your respect. Her musical style has become an inspiration for many generations of musicians. Singers like Fuji Kaze, Miwa, Minami, Jimin BTS, and even Ikuta from Yoasobi idolize her. She's one of the icons of the 2000s J-pop, and I'll never forget the heyday of YUI!
