No it definitely wasn't a joke. "I'm just playing , you know I love you." is a recurring bit he uses at the end of several songs to mean "I'm definitely not playing and I hate you." There's a lot more backstory to this, from my understanding. Like a lot more. They've been beefing for years but mostly Diddy's done it indirectly through having people signed to his label taking shots at Em. There has been a popular rumor that Diddy put a hit out on Pac. It came out to the public through a California cop who had been investigating the murder and also a guy named Keefe D who had been around with a lot of the people suspected to be involved. This line hit hard because people that Eminem is very close to (such as Dre) were also in the circles of people who would have known what actually happened, so it's a bigger deal than a random person because Eminem might actually know the whole story. Oh, and Eminem wouldn't have known this when Killshot was released, but Keefe D was arrested in connection with Tupac's murder earlier this year.
