That was my first thought, but also why do not have any telegraph for their direct fire attack. They just track you and fire whereas with the other tanks they do something before firing (cannon pulses with light, shredder stops rotating)

The impaler can die to a regular eagle airstrike and/or an orbital precision strike as well, its pretty easy to land to since the impaler doesn't move much.

I found the eagle airstrike to be pretty inconsistent and usually needs a follow up. I stick to 500kg's and precisions for the best consistency.

Yesterday we dropped an Orbital Railcannon Strike, then an Eagle Airstrike, and ANOTHER Eagle Airstrike on an Impaler sitting in a depression. (Bug base) The thing just kept on soaking it up and didn't die.

Problem isn't hitting it. It's finding the damn thing. Especially on acid rain and fog maps. Or if spore charger is around. Had multiple dives where it killed the entire squad multiple times and we couldn't find it. And that was only on 7. On 8 and up its probably impossible with all the chaff in the way

My guess is its bugged. Killed plenty of impalers last night, always while their weakpoint was exposed. Sometimes it took a single OPS, sometimes i had to drop my whole arsenal on them. Im noticing the same issue w regular chargers rn

I'm sure people will just say I suck but I stg Terminid Helldive has become nearly impossible for me solo after this update. Every single Outpost/POI/Objective has 3-4 Alpha Commanders and they instantly fill the field with super fast warriors while retreating so you cant even stop the spam. Now that Chargers are harder to kill (flame nerf) and Impalers can start ragdolling you before you know they're there, clearing enemies becomes an exercise in futility and gets you stuck in a never ending horde until you get lucky enough to escape the area or run out of lives. I genuinely don't know what to do anymore.

It's normal, the update just arrive a few days ago and nobody were prepared for a massive change on strategies and the way we used to play. Just be patient and constant, try to find guides like this one for those enemies which you struggle the most and try a build that works with you.

well, could be the damage itself that is overkill to divers or the code how it hits you. does it hit the arm, than does it deal dmg to the arm or to the head? does it hit the head even it visually hits somewhere else? and finally the splashdmg: is the radius large enough to hit your head and the dmg of it big enough to kill the head? why am i talking about the head? your head is the weakspot, no armour increase for whatever suit u take.

Charger and Bile Titan can survive DIRECT IMPACT 500KG. No amount of organic armor can withstand a 500kg explosive. Charger and Bile Titan can tank entire duration of Orbital Laser. Do I need to elaborate further?

For the Impaler, I've found that using the normal Precision Orbital Strike on them the second they put their tentacles down is enough to kill them instantly. And the high low recharge time means you don't have to use it just for them!

With the amount of (alpha) commanders and more than often, spewers, I've come to love the AC against bugs. Dumping less than 10 shots in the burrowed head also kills Impalers without much brain usage, so it's an absolute banger weapon against bugs now. I love to couple it with stun grenades to be able to explode (behemoth) chargers back aswell. You get 3 free stratagem slots to deal with titans, nests, or more horde clear (tho AC + incendiary secondary (since you don't need the grenade secondary for nests) are already good pest control), it really frees your loadout and various stuff is viable (kinda love the rocket turret nowadays)

@@-nyon-6108 I found it a lot weaker on the automaton side, now that walkers take 5 shots. I find the railgun much better, to deal with them + hulks in one shot. And if I go solo, the railgun's weaknesses being tanks and turrets can just be avoided. I think AC is on a nice spot, just kinda sad the teamwork backpacks aren't rewarding enough to use them that way; tho I have no idea what kind of change would encourage team reload, maybe being able to still shoot with one handed weapons but the animation would be janky.

Great video! So far my favorite weapon to kill Impalers is the HMG 750 rpm at melee range shooting the face. But in the chaos of Super Helldive, bombs or orbitals are the best way to get rid of them imo.

The impaler is a really cool idea, I love it. It needs some tweaking however. I feel like the impaler should be "easy" to defeat 1v1. It should be "easy" to avoid the tentacles by either dodging, or they should retract immediately when getting shot at. What would then make the impaler challenging is balancing it with all the other units coming at you. Suddenly its not so easy to dodge and deal with. Right now the impaler is a bit too intense. Its hard to develop skills against it.

If shooting any damage to tentacles made them retract, it would be still be easy to get overwhelmed, but not impossible. I frankly just want them to need to see their target like every other bug, if that wasn't enough, maybe a tad bit lower hp, but line of sight should be plenty.

At this point, I find myself using one load out against the Terminids: Blitzer, Grenade Pistol, Stun Grenades, Guard Dog Rover, Quasar Cannon, Orbital Precision Strike, & Orbital Airburst Strike. Blitzer & Stun Grenades work holding off swarms of Terminids, especially when others need to reload, & the Rover helps with that. Use the Quasar Cannon for large targets. Grenade Pistol is for closing bug holes. Orbital Airburst Strike & Orbital Precision Strike have such quick cooldowns that they're almost always available for use. Airburst takes out a large group of chaff with ease, & Precision takes out large targets, especially Impalers. Most important part of this load out is that I am never out of ammo at all times.

for the impaler, grenade launcher/autocannon workquite well. You just need to bait it exposing its face then spam grenade launcher/autocannon at it and it dead very fast before the tentacle actually come up. Took 6-8 round to destroy it face, same goes with autocannon. Dodging tentacle ambush is not that hard either but require you to have good self awareness, if you see that impaler start digging the ground, run imediately on any direction even go head front to yolo its face. The tentacle will always deploy on your last known location, for example you are standing near the radar and you see the impaler start deploy its tentacle => you run far away from the radar since the tentacle will spawn right at radar which is your last known location before you act fast and start running to other location.

I find it very rough to use vs the impaler. It oftentimes just hits the body instead of the head, which isn't a oneshot. Using the Precision Strike and Eagle 500kg to hit the head has proved to be a much more consistent oneshot

Something to keap in mind when fighting the reinforced striders: I found that when a strider has fired all rockets on one side the strategy to focus that rocket launcher doesn’t work anymore (on that side if the other side still has rockets it still works there) and that the launcher just falls of but it still does a little damage if you fire at it

According to ppl digging the code, front leg of impaler DOES NOT have the "fatal" tag which means it won't kill the thing when it's health pool is depleted. So despite it has the same 700 health as back leg it doesn't matter at all. The only thing matters when you shoot it is the 35% damage to main means 35% of damage dealt to front leg would also be dealt to its main health pool and by keep shooting it you eventually kill the thing by deplete its main HP. Also in my personal experience orbital railcannon doesn't kill an impaler every time. Don't know why.

Best tool against impaler: OPS Hands down. No Contest. Rocket strider: Aim at rockets or legs. Tank: Have not faced it yet. But spear/commando should be perfect tool.

If you shoot the Armored Striders in the groin/waist area, it's a 1-shot with the AC or AMR. This is also true for regular Striders.

I don’t think anyone has commented about it, but you can actually one tap the reinforced scout strider by shooting its upper part of their leg from the front with Anti-Materiel Rifle, it works with Eruptor too. For some reason shooting that part from the back or side doesn’t one tap the scout strider. Aside from that, great video as always, keep up the grind 🔥

Situational awareness, keeping your attention on your surroundings, using the correct armor to avoid the ragdoll and coordinating with the team are the correct tools, but at this point we should not be explaining these things, perhaps the problem comes from another side, I would even bet that those who complain the most are those who play the least. Keep complaining, the only thing you are going to achieve is that AH changes the game to the way you like it best, without anything harmful and all the enemies easy to destroy for your daily dose of dopamine.

The HMG to the impaler's face is also a good way to kill it, as the HMG lays down a frankly ridiculous amount of raw damage per second. It'll eat nearly an entire clip, but if you want a quick and dirty way to murk the thing just whip out the HMG, toggle to max fire rate, then crouch or go prone then hold the trigger and yank the crosshair down

For bug I always bring the Orbital Precision Strike with stun grenades. It oneshots impalers, you can stun a charger to guarantee the kill, it can kill a titan in one or two shots.

When the impaler digs its face into the ground (those are the tentacles) you can shoot the orange part that becomes revealed. That's the weak spot (seen at 10:23.) I'm an HMG user, and half a mag kills it. It'll also prevent the tentacles from emerging, and get rid of them if they're already out. At least from what I've been able to tell. That's also the reason why sometimes the rail cannon orb doesn't kill them. From what little I've experienced, the retracted tentacles seem to block most of the damage from orbitals.

On an eradicate mission, I flanked an Impaler, and I managed to crawl under it while it was attacking my teammates. 2-3 commando rockets and it was history. I couldn’t tell what was happening on my screen for a few seconds, but I was surprised that it’s possible to get under and Impaler and hit its non-armored body and deal some serious damage.

OPS really is goated. Love it and Orbital Gas Strike. Both short cooldown, one for single target, the other for area damage. If I don't know what to bring, I never go wrong with these two. 500 kg is also obviously very good, but on planets with lots of trees it sometimes hits a tree instead... (I think current MO planet is like that, but I haven't played in it yet)

The Impaler reveals its obvious Weakspot once it stucks his head into the Ground. There is a big orange Part revealed. Just concentrate on this and it goes down even before the Tentacles spawn in. Took me only a couple rounds of the AC and i think a single well aimed Rocket.

I'd still choose to deal with these ones any day over those stalkers that keep double tapping you in the back as soon as you emerge from the hell pod. Other times they are just slapping you around like a football and keep doing so because your helldiver turns in to a drunk GTA 5 character that ragdoll by stepping on a side walk. I think that when game design has to resort to constant stun locks to keep a player from responding to a situation, the design is flawed. Out of any enemy in the game, the Stalker holds that curse.

Just a correction, the rocket tanks are indeed the most resilient of all the tank variants. They survive to 1, sometimes 2 eagle rocket pod, multiple eagle airstrikes and cannot die from most primary weapons. Also the spear really struggles to lock on to the turret, which would result in you having to dump 2 to 3 rockets into the hull to destroy it in certain situations. Also, they can still shoot during their bleedout if you hit the lower hull, and sometimes do not explode at all from it, so you're left with a massively powerfull turret with a bunch of range that you have to dump extra firepower on. The rail canon strike, 500kg and the precision strike are the only reliable ways to destroy these things in my experience. And the magic happens when two of those drop near a jammer. I cannot understate how buggy/broken they are. The new striders are already a pain in the butt, giving once again a numerous and common enemy the power to randomely one hit you, but you also got a rare enemy that just refuses to stop firing and does not require a line of sight to ragdoll you back to super earth.

OPS will often 1 shot an impaler and since they don't move, you basically can't miss (besides bounces which happen alarmingly often). A more versitile option to the Railcannon.

fastest way of killing chargers now (for me) has been the recoilless rifle. stun behemoths and hit a back leg, swap to grenade pistol and hit the leg. works everytime, and the other chargers can be headshotted easily.

Railgun on back legs is also very good. Same old as with the chargers. Strip and destroy with primary. Also any Machinegun to its face takes about half a mag to kill when burrowed

Another way to reliably kill imp alerts is with the orbital precision strike. You just throw it under the impaler after it sends out its tentacles and it’s a guaranteed kill

Little bit of a correction but the alpha broods actually completely replace regular broods starting from difficulty 8 all the way to 10. I personally never seen a single regular brood on level 8 missions, and i think they SHOULD only totally replace the regular broods on tens. Then again Arrowhead is known for making really stupid decisions smh.

The impaler goes down to 1 auto cannon magazine to the face when he burrows it If you got a little timing there is no problem in killing him before the tentacles leave the ground

the absolutely easiest way to deal with impalers is the Precision strike it will 100% one shot them and as they usually stand still they provide a Prime opportunity to whoop their ass PLUS the Precision strike is generally more accesible than the Railcannon strike as it has a measily

I just found a new meta for me: grenade launcher, supply pack, 500 kg, orbital precision strike, stun grenade, incendiary breaker, and new fire-based pistol. Try it :)

Heavy machine gun fucks up stunned spore chargers or impalers as usual, it's high durable damage means it destroys the unarmoured gaps on spore chargers or butts and uncovered head of impalers

Impalers range and dmg should be nered and its okay 👌👌 Sometimes the tentacle onehits you and you couldnt even see it when spawning from behind while deaing with others (diff 10) Its not hard to kill, you can quazar it too. Its vulnerable in the front very when its attacking

The impaler can be killed easily with a grenade launcher. Just wait till it digs in and exposes its face and then just let off a few quick volleys at the bottom (ground) side of its face so that it (aoe) also hits behind his face. Like 4-6 shots and it’s down. Which only takes about 2-3 seconds to shoot and can be done from really far without having to maneuver behind it. A lot easier than trying to get that back leg.

Another way to kill Impaler quick is with a stun grenade when it gets in the ground (I think it stops the tentacles) then empty an auto cannon clip into it for easy kill

I was just in a lvl 8 mission and there were 2 Impaler's all the time they should be a easy kill if you find them with their head in the ground.

I've used orbital gas and gatling to good effect on impalers. The large size makes it take extra hits.

When the impaler is burrowed what worked for me 4 commando on the front and 1 grenade pistol was good enough was my first 2 tries when i saw it and it barely kept me save before it started attacking me its a very deadly enemy, if it is hard to reach i absolutely dont mind using my railgun for it. remember it takes 4 man to do the mission (usually)

I've been using the orbital precision strike on the impailer's back legs. Low cooldown and high success rate when paired with stun grenades

The reason why the commando can’t kill the front legs is because, it can. When moving forward and firing, you deal more damage, whereas standing still or walking back deals less damage. Don’t know why, it doesn’t make any sense, but it’s just how it is.

I think the arrowhead developers hate their players. There were annoying nerfs to weapons, fog on all planets, too many missiles for robots - of course, let's do more of this. After all, we so vitally need balance in PVE. Perfect.

Ive had multiple railcannon strikes not kill the impalers And yes i watched them hit My experience it instakills them 80% of the time Maybe cause of bugs or perhaps it depends where the impaller gets hit but anyway for me it doesnt always do the trick Thank you for the leg intell though!!
