Few years after migrating to America from the Caribbean I had the privilege of having a roommate from Ghana he was calm and very respectful to me and my daughter. He will contribute to taking care of my 10 yr old daughter when he realized I could not afford it. He told me in Ghana people helped take care of children and each other and he does not understand this country. Once I told a South African lady my roommate is from Ghana, and she said “do you know Ghanaian men men make the best husband. (i was thinking of my work and education) I did notice he was smart, intelligent respectful went to work. Years after he was changing the lives of drug addicts.

That is Ghana. Muslim traditional and Christian are always together so they know how to cope with each other. If you have a problem with one your mother or grandfather will call both together sit down and talk to each other. No matter how hard it is you will never disobey your grandfather or mother. That is how Ghana has maintain it peaceful environment

When you both talked about belonging I was so happy for you I almost cried. Some of us are so lucky to know exactly who we are and where we come from and who our people are because not everybody does. I watch documentaries of people who are at that point in their lives where they just want to know who they are and where they come from but they can’t. They just take DNA tests that send them to certain areas in Africa but even upon arrival, they hit a dead end when they realize all they can connect with are the slave markets and harbors where their ancestors might have gone through and it’s really gut wrenching because these people have everything anyone could ask for in the countries that they live in but they feel no sense of belonging there and unfortunately don’t know exactly who they are here in Africa and my heart just breaks for them every time.

Thanks for sharing your views on Ghana. I can say that all the things you hate about Ghana are basically a 3rd world country issues and are also present in the Caribbean. The thing is that if those issues such as lost of electricity, pot holes in the roads, traffic, etc. are all due to lack of money for infrastructure. The good thing is that we can all survive even with these inconveniences because we have peace of mind and acceptance. Obviously the good outweighs the bad for you so all is well. I would love to visit Ghana some time in the future, not to live, but to be able to contribute as a tourist by spending my money instead of doing so in other rich countries. I enjoy traveling and Ghana is on my list...

I went to Germany for two weeks, man the cold made me pale 😂😂😂😂, the food was not as tasty. But I must agree about owning a house in Africa, you can never be homeless unless if it's collateral. You can grow your own food if you have land and when you're really broke you can never fail to find something to eat.

Lovely video. I'm all for opening up our country letting outside see/experience our country, but one thing we must do is to PROTECT what we have! That Ghanaian heritage, culture and wealth (not monetary but in our spirit) must never be lost to outside interest, influence, greed and exploitation whilst seeking 'development' via outside investment.
