To this day, no one can do that string bending like Iommi. This was 1971. Iommi is a genius.

Loads of guitarists can do that. What makes the sound unique is the combination of all those tones, sabbath was all about tone.

Specifically, I'm referring to the vibrato wobble he puts on between the other notes, so not the straight bending but the wobbly vibrato bending which results from the super light flex strings coupled with leather fingertips. Of the many covers of this I've heard, I've not heard anyone able to get that right.

I love playing Iommi on guitar, even play with my index and pinky trying to get closer to his sound or something but still cannot quite get that "quivver" thing he does with his bends, such a cool sound

All I can say is Led Zeppelin was my all time favorite band from about 4th grade all the way up through my 1st year in the Army. That all changed at age 19 when my brother introduced me to Black Sabbath. I'll never forget that day when I popped in "We Sold Our Souls for Rock and Roll", and Tony's opening riff from Tomorrow's Dream just enveloped me in a warm, heavy, sonic cloud. My world changed that evening. Sabbath became my #1 favorite band, and they remain so today, over 30 years later. Saw them in concert many times, with Tony Martin, and with Ozzy. Sadly, I never had the privilege to see them live with Dio. Over the years I've come to understand the greatness of Ronnie James Dio, and I believe that some of Tony Iommi's best work was with Dio. RIP. Long live Black Sabbath, and long live Tony Iommi. 🤘🎸

From back in 71. The sheer levels of bands, and more guitarists that came from these groves is insane. Pretty much every band in the 90's was a spawn of these guys, or more, this song. and still to this day there are eager musicians that eat this up like candy. And I am one of them.

When I was 13 I got a job washing dishes at the resteraunt at the harbour, pops lived on his sailboat. And we drove into town and I cashed my 60 dollar check, went to the record store, and MASTER OF REALITY is literally not only the first album.. but the very first thing I ever bought with my first check from my first job. In those days there three go to heavy rock bands; Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I liked all three. Black Sabbath were always the darkest and so great. Their albums were packed full of great song. Deep Purple, they were also great innovators in the early era of heavy rock. And everyone knows about LZ.

In late 1973, Iommi married Susan Snowdon, to whom he had been introduced by Black Sabbath's then-manager Patrick Meehan. The song "Fluff", an Iommi instrumental composition later released on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album, was played as Snowdon walked down the aisle. Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham was Iommi's best man for the ceremony. Iommi wrote the song "Lonely Planet" which was sung by Dorians for Armenia in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.

Fantastic video!! This is what many people listened to in 1971 and at least for me really f.....Ed me up in a good way. When I bought this album my mom threatened to smash the album cover over my head. They appeared at the Montreal forum with wild turkey opening up. I wasn't allowed to go because I wasn't allowed back then!! How about fromthe same album, after forever. This song really turned my head in many directions. I rarely studied back then. Humble pie rocking the Filmore ( please review, I guarantee you will be a major fan!!), Jethro Tull, led Zeppelin, Uriah heep, ( demons and wizards please), grand funk railroad. These are only a few of the bands I listened to back then. Challenging to get any homework done but it continued to open my mind to everything music related. Miles Davis bitches brew came later. I couldn't understand what was going on but I believe every music reviewer needs to do this classic which changed everything. Miles Davis was beyond genius!!!😀 Love your videos and especially the comments. Keep them coming. Humble pie rocking the Filmore. The track stone cold fever is a great start!!!!!

Punk rock originated before Sabbath imo. There's the Stooges and MC5. The roors of punk rock might be tra ed back to the Kinks with You Really Got Me , there may be earlier examples. Metal however starts with Sabbath, with Sludgw, Doom and Stoner all starting with this album.

That whole album of Master of Reality is bangers!! Great great album! I bought it when I was 15 and im 47 and still have it lol! Zep and Sabbath are my top 2 fav bands ever and you cant go wrong with any songs. Well that is the songs when Ozzy was in the band! I got pissed when Ozzy got kicked out and was solo , I bought all albums and they had Randy Rhoads plaining lead guitarist! So I never bought any Albums after Ozzy was out of the band. But Try some Songs from Blizzard of Oz or Bark at The Moon!

I can't call a favorite between Led and Sabbath either. They're just different. Sabbath, for me, is more consistently great and original. Led has higher peaks but they have quite a bit more filler on their albums in my opinion.
