I had indoor cats for many years and there is a statistic that indoor cats that escape are usually hiding within 2 blocks of home...they are usually close by but won't come when called bc they are scared. Put food out and something that smells like home and go out and call the cat in the mornings and late afternoon/at sunset. Every time one of ours got out, he turned up eventually
