Woman power from Mali - Fatoumata Diawara live in concert at the 30th Africa Festival Würzburg in 2018. Please note that all rights are reserved. Any copy or download of the concert is strictly prohibited.
Her debut album ´Fatou´ (2011) featuring the hit “Sowa“ conquered the charts of the world music scene. She was the lead of several movies and theatre plays. Her last projects were the collaboration with Cuban musician Roberto Fonseca (”At Home“ / 2015), the fusion album “Lamomali“ (2017) with French rock musician Matthieu Chedid, as well as the documentary “Mali Blues“. Last year she performed on stage at the Africa festival with Tuareg Ahmed Ag Kaedy, one of the protagonists from this movie. By popular request we have invited the fighter for the rights of women in Africa again to make the festival tent boil. In 2013 she received the Africa Festival Award.

I woke up this morning, made some coffee and drank it in front of the computer watching this video. I call work sick, smoke a big reefer and decide to consecrate my day to whatever time I have still left on this planet.

These songs played on these instruments & vocals are the songs brought to the U.S. The minor tones were retained & transformed into what we now call "the Blues." Every minor scale was retained while the lyrics poets gave the people their commentary of the happens of the day. That music evolved into many genre which are performed by children in the Diaspora today. The U.S. has created more genres of this music than any other offspring. Black Creative Music Called Jazz

Just as Fatoumata Diawara brilliantly stated, "Travel! The planet is like a huge book. The more countries you do, the more you read from your book." And I'll say "For if just one page is disregard, clarification of knowledge cannot be achieved." I am black and I am a US Citizen, but when I see you I am lost in the knowledge of how much of myself is missing throughout our separation and the total loss of identity to those of us who are here. Shakespeare said it well, "THIS ABOVE ALL, TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE--and it must follow as the night, the day (consistently and regardless). Thou can not then be false to any one." Your strong inner-beauty, as well as your physical charm and fabulous talents, fully demonstrate someone who proudly knows "THINE OWN SELF." Subscribed and a 👍!!!
