😂 Mate it's swings and roundabouts. You can educate yourself and train to become anything you want to in the world - doctor, scientist, aeromechanical engineer. You can make vast amounts of money that would allow you to travel the world and live like a king in a hell of a lot of other countries. Our healthcare is free albeit slow. You lose your job, you can get the equivalent of other countries average monthly wage just to sit on your behind or to help you find a new job. The negative side being lots of junkies, lack of freedoms compared to other countries, being a subject rather than a citizen. From 2001-2011 I was a construction site manager. Travelling all over the UK converting woolworths and other large old retail outlets into primarks. I watched the destruction of a lot of town centres. Whilst working on the Oldham one, one night the set fire to a security cabin with the security guy asleep inside. It was horrendous for drunks, druggies,and robbery of an evening. Same on the Scunthorpe and Telford jobs. Our cities have been in decline for over 20 years. So sad. 🥺

They were invited from former British colones to emigrate to Britain by the British government to work in the cotton mills in the 1950's and 60's. At the time the mills had a labour shortage. Great video fella, and good to see how much more we are declining... Tommyfield was the home of the first ever Fish and Chip shop in the UK,... So something to be grateful for..haha. Im 55 and have lived in the Oldham area all my life. I must say the decline of this town has been incredible... And in particular since lock down and the release of us all, you cannot move now in this town at certain times. Usually school turning out times. Any trips around Oldham will take you on average an extra 50 mins. Grid lock is the norm and I must say its not the most pleasant places to be living anymore.

It’s sad, that’s my home town and it was a booming town centre in the 90s but has been left to deteriorate by corrupt local councillors. “Spindles” was once a very busy precinct with every store inside you can get, Tommyfield outdoor market was famous and has coach tours visit, the indoor market was good as well but like the rest of the town it’s been left to rot, there’s no way back now. Used to have the best night out outside of Manchester Thursdays and Saturday nights, had 3-4 nightclubs and the main strip was lively, been left to die like most northern towns for a long time now, trams have made worse with Mcr being a short travel away.

U can say that about Ashton too,once had thriving nightlife back in 90s and most of noughties,now totally dead.Wakefield too,u cdnt drive past Westgate in Wakey on a friday or saturday night it was that rammed.now former clubs there are now converted into evangelical churches.

Im local to oldham as well and its a shame on the current state of spindles which is why a lot of people go to arndale now since theres barely anything to do now in oldham apart from cinema and local shops i guess
