Just come home from Blackpool today. Went with the misses and 2 kids. They absolutely loved the Christmas fair and lights. Stayed at haven, had a brilliant time to be fair! I also went in September for a week, stayed in the same place as well, the hole week was busy from booking things for the kids, the kids don't notice the grime they just see the flashing lights, horse and carts ect so it was perfect 👌... But I must admit the place Is so run down once you go from the sea front, the look of all the b&b's/hotels and the streets are terrible, very much reminds me of Rhyl

I was in Blackpool yesterday. Away from the promenade, just a couple of streets back, the poverty is absolutely clear to see. It is a mirror for every other town built on a single industry: Burnley with textiles; Hartlepool and steel; Grimsby and fishing. When those industries are no more, the towns must be supported. In Blackpool's case, tourism is what the town was built upon. Yesterday, I drove through the illuminations, jam-packed in my youth, and I was free to drive at 20mph for much of the way. This is not about immigrants. This is about towns across the nation being abandoned, while the wealth of the nation filters into the pockets of those who refuse to pay their taxes, syphoning it off to offshore trusts rather than help the nation that gave them what they have. Despite that, it was a great day, including great food at The Hive, 2p pushers in the arcade, and a stunning sunset amid the storms surrounding the North Pier.

To be fair it doesnt look that bad. However, if youre going to smoke crack then dont complain that 'no one is helping' when your life falls apart. As an ex-addict i know what its like. Coke and crack fundamentally change your personality to become a lying and manipulative weasel. I dont think the issue lies with the council, the real issue is organised crime that make drugs available 24/7 enabling addiction and homelessness. The rats running the show (Kinahans etc) dont give a fuck about the misery they are causing on the streets.

As a kid I always thought living on the coast in a place like Blackpool would be nothing buts wins. Go to the beach when you want, access to the arcades, chippies and sweet shops everywhere….too much of a good thing sent em potty.

It's so sad to see the rapid decline in so many areas/towns/cities right across the Country. I use to go to Blackpool every bank holiday years ago (2003/2005) time. I used to love it and I absolutely loved the people over there. They were all really friendly and welcoming. It's heart breaking to see so many people struggling whether it be financially, emotionally etc.

Used to love Blackpool as a child. It's a shame what the town has become. Can't even go there for the nostalgia side anymore. It's depressing.
