It’s honestly fucking heartbreaking for me to see the public reception of fools paradise. I haven’t seen it, but the fact that he worked on it for ten years and clearly has so much passion for it and care for his project makes it a crushing blow to see the reviews and stuff. I really hope Charlie uses that as inspiration and a lesson in film making, rather than making him want to give up. I know if that happened to me I would be crushed and give up, but seeing how hard these 3 guys have worked on what they love, I think Charlie has more heart than I do to get up and keep trying

To me, the worst possible result of this movie flopping commercially would be him not getting back on the horse and trying again. Don't give up, Charlie, please keep going. The Sunny guys have always admitted that Charlie is essentially who they follow in a scene. His energy, his ad libs, and what he brings to a scene always makes it memorable. Not taking away from Glenn and Rob, but I firmly believe Charlie is the reason casual fans become obsessive fans. A++ compression and mixing. I hope someone gets my Bupkis reference (a show I hate with one of the best Charlie Day performances ever)
@Bittamin Жыл бұрын
I feel like if they’re compressing anything it would hopefully be very light. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any dynamic range in the volume that they speak at. It’s definitely gain matched very well, and I agree the audio is very crispy. I’m also assuming the microphones and recording setup on a physical level is helping to make the mixing in post production a lot easier. The hardware does the “hard” work 😅 Definitely could be using a limiter to keep the peaks of audio uniform though, but adding a lot of gain to the lowest volume in dialogue while decreasing the peaks of the highest volume (compression) could lead to more issues than it would solve. I still gotta go to school for this so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt 😂
@chrundlethegreat2251 Жыл бұрын
@@Bittamin I'm simply paying attention to the movement. The pickup pattern in those SM 7B's are pretty central. I see them almost going waaaaay off that range quite a lot with great retention of volume and dynamic range. Glenn is a formidable actor, just slightly on another level than his Sunny compatriots. Rob and Charlie are hilarious and charismatic obviously but Glenn’s intensity is outstanding.

I stumbled on this show mid season 3 and never looked back. These guys are like family to me. Such a cool episode.

1:21 reminds me of Bette Midler’s delivery of the same line in For The Boys, while Dixie is vamping an ad for the sponsors of the show she’s shooting who have just arrived on set in the control booth. Whether this wasn’t the intention, thank you for unearthing the joyful memory nugget!

13 mins in, the thought had crept into my head that I need a latte. Also, I absolutely loved Ray Liotta in this. "Listen to me fu** face" was gold! Congrats to both Glen and Charlie, your hard work paid off!

I can't even imagine how Glenn and Charlie feel upon seeing the WILDLY varying reviews on their respective movies. I just saw Fool's Paradise, and MAN did it suck -- wish it hadn't, but it felt like a PG movie trying to survive in an R-rated environment, and it was just a boring mess. Haven't seen Blackberry yet.

Can't wait to see these movies! Fantastic to hear the background production of them. Hat's off to Charlie finishing it after ten years!

Possibly the best thing on this earth to date is Glenn being angry. It's poetic, it's righteous, it's just glorious in every way..

I don’t think I have seen a fan casting of any superhero movie ever that doesn’t include Glenn as a villain, major or minor. I’m glad that more people behind the scenes are seeing that now as well

Just watched "Blackberry" here at Cinneplex in Saint John NB Canada. Glen is brilliant. Rest of the cast is pretty special too. Shout out to the great Michael Ironside! Everybody should go see "Blackberry." We will also be going to see Fool's paradise soon.

Don't bother, Fools Paradise is bad. Blackberry was great though.

Glen is doing caffeine correctly. If you don't want to crash, wait 90 minutes in the morning before you start having caffeine. The exact mechanic is complicated, but the same mechanism that makes you feel awake will stop you from actually waking normally.

Oof. The reviews for Charlie's movie are abysmal. Poor guy. The reviews for Blackberry, however, are overwhelmingly positive.

Just watched both films before finishing this episode. Loved them both! I don't understand the Fool's Paradise RT score. I think a lot of the critics just didn't understand the film. I remember watching Being There for the first time and getting a distinct, difficult to describe, but pleasant, feeling from it, I got the same from Fool's Paradise. I laughed a bunch of times and teared up at the end big time. There are so many shots in Fool's Paradise that I want to try to make my desktop wallpaper because they were so beautiful. It's the kind of movie that screams cult classic because it's so misunderstood by the general audience and critics. Blackberry was really intense and reminded me of a favorite series of mine, Halt and Catch Fire. Glenn was incredible in it, now I get the calls for him to be the new Lex Luthor.

Hadn't heard of BLACKBERRY until this and just saw the reception: holy frijoles. Day is in probably the biggest box-office movie this year, Rob just had a "soon to be a 'Base On a True Story' movie" season with Wrexham and Glenn may well get an acting nod if these reviews for BLACKBERRY stay up and the film gets some traction in theatres. Wild year for these guys.

I cannot wait to see both of these unique films in a local theater! They are absolutely right that there is such a void of truly great "comedic" films in recent years. There are always so-called "comedies" getting made, but rarely appear to be anything worth getting excited about. Thank you all & best of luck (like you really need it)😜
