Bird law actually has an interesting significance. Protecting various threatened species was outside of the power of congress and most state's legislatures. However, the president was empowered to enter into treaties, so long as ratified by the senate, and that would become attached to the constitution as the law of the land regardless. The Endangered Species Act was the first main time treaty law was used to apply laws within the US that would otherwise be unconstitutional or simply not politically possible. Another example, as has been testified before congress, the US fed gov cannot legalize cannabis because of a treaty. It can only be decriminalized and ignored. But congress and the US gov has no legal ability to legalize cannabis anymore because of a treaty. Birdlaw precedent actually has incredible significance.
@wittkrieg Жыл бұрын
I will also say, I support the Bricker amendment which would make it unconstitutional to make unconstitutional acts legal even if done via treaty. However, at this moment, the president and a majority of the senate can, under the constitution, absolutely violate the constitution in every other way. And they have and continue to use this method with zero public awareness. And this all happened because of birdlaw. If only more people understood birdlaw the world might be better.

People these days are just so into "My view is right, if you disagree you're wrong" that they see what went on in that episode and immediately think it's a big deal fight. @@Littledidtheyknow I'd say it's worth a listen because there's some good stuff about the writing process for S16, the people they've worked with, some surprising fans and the December live show, so it's not completely disconnected from Sunny. Personally, I wanna cut them some slack because they've clearly just come from working very hard on S16 and there's not much time left for them to finish up all the writing (and if it's a tradeoff between S16 of the show and 4-6 episodes of the podcast, I pick the show). They must be very stressed out when they recorded this. But yes, it's still rather disappointing when this episode is such a classic to all of us fans :( I would have appreciated if Rob could at least explain more fully why he doesn't think this episode holds up instead of just being a downer. I don't think it's an LA thing, just his very "direct" personality, to put it politely. I guess at least Glenn loved the episode.

Love the Joseph Campbell name drop by Glenn. Campbell is a freaking beast.

I never noticed a fly in that scene. I always notice how they had to keep moving away from Rob cuz he's clearly breaking character as it goes on lol

The flies being added into the ad segue at 42:11 is a nice touch

Is it me, or has Rob been a little spicy lately? I can smell some of that vinegar boiling up inside you Rob, but I’m gonna need you to save some of that for the customers, ok baby boy?

The same reason they dont want to work on other shows the same reason they prob didnt wanna do a podcast cuz they knew every tiny “micro aggression” gets analyzed to death when as they have said, they are best friends who have worked together for two decades & dont let things like differing opinions or even heated conversations influenced by alcohol get in the way of what is a successful & fruitful friendship/business relationship

I watched 'I don't feel at home in this world anymore' a few weeks ago (glenn talks about it at 27:20 ) and i loved it! I'd never heard of it before, so funny to hear you guys talk about it.

Love how deep you go into the writing process on this one. Obviously top of mind since you are writing, but super fun. Would love to see a breakdown of the writing process for one of the episodes after the next season ends.

off topic, but charlie’s green hat and the way his hair is slightly curling in that back makes him kinda look like luigi, which for me sells the fact that he’s gonna be perfect for the role.

This is the best podcast ever. It's like they are in the show talking in the bar over each other, but Charlie knows gooder words!

"But little do I know,she desperately wants to talk to me,apparently. According to that story,I'm gonna assume the next time I see her that she wants to talk to me. " Lol that deserved laughs. Glenn really leaning in to his Dennis there,really felt like the "psychotically vain" bit.

I like the fact that when they talk about their bodies and exercises at (47:40) they completely ignore the fact that Rob was an actual bodybuilder for a year and he achieved a body that only few people can dream of and Rob doesn't say anything about this :)

As someone who is learning to write for TV / film I am loving hearing about the writer’s room and how you work through creative discussions or beat out an episode! (and if you’re ever looking for a script coordinator….)

Nice work Meg, and Meg's trainer. "Great Job, You Failed!" might be the best metaphor for the entire arc of IASIP that I've heard yet. It needs to be on a t-shirt or coffee mug.

"You can't eat cat food during the day. It'll make you tired." Is Glenn implying here that the reason why cats usually sleep through long stretches of a day is because they have been fed cat food? That's a wild theory that no one picked up on.
@scotthuff1189 ай бұрын
It's a reference to the episode where dee fills Charlie's shows and he teaches her to eat cat food and buff glue before bed
