the best way i can describe the Yin(Evil) half being more open and agreeable than the yang(good) half requires you to look at the yin-yang symbol. in the yang half there is a speck of evil waiting to corrupt and in the yin half there is a speck of light waiting to be released. My guess is the yang half has been corrupted by that speck of evil because of his hatred. This means until Naruto purified the yang half with talk-no-jutsu the only light left in Kurama was in his yin half.
