When I found out Kurt Angle was doing his own podcast, this was one of the episodes I was super excited for.

This match quieted all the naysayers that say wrestling isn't real. The pain Kurt and Shane felt was all too real.

Hurting themselves for real in a scripted TV show... great shit
@PJBchannel3 жыл бұрын
@@pmfg11 Even though Kurt "hates gimmick matches" and a match like that will "never happen again", it stands to this day as one of the greatest matches in modern professional wrestling, and one of Kurt's best. These two guys are a rare breed that I don't see being replicated anytime soon especially with how wrestling is today.
@lotsathedetox9 ай бұрын
Just because they get hurt doesn't make it real. The fact that it is pre determined and they are cooperating the whole time still makes it fake.

Both this match and the 98 cell match. The most remembered matches of Kurt and Foley. Both matches incorporated heavy deathmatch influences... Important lesson to learn.

The crazy thing is that Kurt wrestled 2 matches in the same show prior to this Streetfight with Shane.

Before King of the Ring, I liked Angle but wasn't a huge fan. After this PPV, I was a big fan. I really respect someone who puts themselves through all that for the fans. The fact that he wrestled 3 matches that night with a concussion, and everything he put himself through really won me over.

I remember watching that match live. Amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be so great.

Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon at King of the Ring 2001 is in my top 5 favorite matches of all time. That was the year that made me a lifelong fan of Shane, he had that insane match with Vince at Wrestlemania X-Seven, jumped off the titantron onto Big Show at the very next PPV, and then his match with Kurt. Son of a billionaire, never had to do all the crazy shit he did, but did it anyway for the fans’ entertainment

Man, I hated Angle back then, but he's probably my fav wrestler of all time now.
@OPSavage20003 жыл бұрын
I was watching along with this episode ..Kurt during your first match you and Christian had a sequence towards the finish where he jumps off your angle slam and twisted that into his finisher! Man that was ahead of it's time, it was smooth I thought.

Hello Conrad, I was wonder if you could share this with Kurt please and Thank You! I am writing in to tell you about an experience I had with Kurt as a young adult. When I was 18 years old (I am now 33), I worked as a stylist at Philip Pelusi salons in the Pittsburgh area. I had the pleasure of doing his wife’s hair. She was a very sweet woman and I was excited to meet him as well. After her service was complete, he walked in, sweat suite clad; and said to me “Did u even do anything? It looks exactly the same. It’s true!” And left without even tipping me! I was so upset and cried like Kurt when he won the Olympic medal after they had left. I thought for a very long time that he was some horrible jerk! When I met my now husband, who is a huge wresting fan, he explained K fabe to me. It was then, years later that I forgave Kurt and realized that he was the exact same Character that was on tv at the time and probably just keeping up appearance. Now he is my Olympic hero! It’s not everyday you get to meet a superstar who won a gold medal with a broken freakin neck! In conclusion I just want to say YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK, YOU SUCK!

You are truely more a Superhero being the fact that you' ve wrestler Like 1000 matches before and after that and you are Stil alive. And able to talk about this. Thank you Kurt ☀️

I didn't like the DDP angle it seemed like a reused story line with the same guy that did it last time... Because it had already been done a year or two previous in WCW with it being DDP's wife being stalked. So, it was kinda weird seeing him in the same story but with opposite roles. Personally I thought the WCW version was actually better. Go check it out.

According to Kurt, no one was aware of mental health in the 90's and no one knew concussions were bad in 2001.

The early 2000s were still a lot like the 90s and society at that time didn't think about things like long term damage the technology boom of around that time is underrated in getting credit for how smart we as a people are now
