Labradoodle vs Australian Labradoodle - Similarities & Differences

The labradoodle and the Australian labradoodle look very similiar, and that's because both of them share poodle as their common parent.
These ‘designer dogs’ are specifically bred for their desired temperamnets and hypoallergenic coat.
Just to be clear, here we are referring to two different doodle breeds. The labradoodle is also known as Standard labradoodle, American labradoodle or British Labradoodle. The Australian labradoodle should not be confused with Aussiedoodle, which is a different breed. Australian Labradoodles are also known as 'Australian Cobberdogs'.
Both of the breeds are not recognized by the American kennel club, because of their mixed breed heritage.

Actually, ALD is different than a cobberdog. Cobberdogs were bred with the Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in the 2000s, where the ALD doesn’t have this lineage. They also have different breed clubs.

@@kylekeirsey2961 I was having this discussion with some friends today. We're from Australia and we've never heard of an Australian Cobberdog until the other day when I saw one on a video. They seem to be an American thing? Maybe like the US has the Outback restaurants that sell stuff Australians never eat.

So basically they're quite similar, while the Cobberdog is better in certain ways across the board, such as predictability/consistency, a long family tree, energy level, allergies, shedding, barking and life span/health

I'm not here to hate on doodles, I have a poodle mix myself, but it does bother me quite a lot that you continue to refer to the regular doodles as a "breed" when there cannot be a breed standard for F1 and F2 doodles, and that same thinking misleads many people into having false expectations of their doodles, and unfortunately many doodles are handed to shelters or rehomed because of their unpredictability. THIS is the most important difference between regular Labradoodles and Australian Labradoodles. Because Australian Labradoodles tend to be multi-generational they could qualify as a breed and are a lot more predictable. I think the main takeaway of this is that if anybody is looking to get a doodle they should highly consider either rescuing a doodle or buy an Australian Labradoodle, and I suggest people stay away from other types of doodles like Aussiedoodles or Bernadoodles for the same reasons as regular Labradoodles, that and many doodles are the result of greed and animal abuse.

Same with ours! We actually forgot to fence in the yard completely last night, so I let our 10 month old female Cobberdog out this morning and after about fifteen minutes noticed that she hadn’t come back. I go outside and she’s sitting in the yard just outside of the fence, watching the neighborhood. We have three kids who love her so she won’t run away!
