For PDFs prob not, but for videos, YES! there are a lot of interviews/ CE lectures I want to listen to and take notes on, but, I often don’t have time for a 2 hour lecture, so, being able to watch 10 min here and there and make Flashcards as I go and have anki keep track of which videos I’m watching, amazing! Same for webpages!

I just finished watching it. just wanna say I purchased the app textSniper about a year ago (without a discount so I paid like 10$) honestly it is worth every penny. It has additive capture, so I quickly capture like every 4 or 5 slides of text and then paste it in anki or anywhere else. It has line breaks so when you capture a text it copies the text + the line the way they are,it is so useful and u have to use keyboard shortcuts cuz the most time-saving is in using shortcuts. it also has importing from another device but I don't use .

This addon has potential, but imo it's not super time saving if your intent is to make cards from a pdf/webpage. You're still copying and pasting from the pdf. You can't do it on the go. It would fantastic to import PDFs you have prehighlighted and it automatically generate cards from those. It can either give you the option to determine all the clozed phrases or automatically do them with a text extraction tool (similar to polar bookshelf). I'd actually argue Polar Bookshelf does a better job of that at this moment. This addon DOES add great functionality for other things though! Like KZbin integration and spaced repetition for reviewing content and card creation (but I'm personally not interested in those features)

It seems really cool, but I have a problem with the timer because I need that an audible alarm sound so I notice when I need to stop taking my break and I cannot find the settings to set the alarm in the add-on. Does someone knows how can I change the settings?

I’ve been debating using this add on the last few days but I’m not convinced this is better than just having notes open on the right side of the screen. I just have a “notes” field where I can take notes within anki, then I make cards from my notes. Also, I read and take notes on anki from my biochem textbook, so I don’t want to upload my entire textbook into this add on.

I looked into this add-on a few months ago when I was starting med school, and I just found the card-making too clunky. The text formatting was just too inconsistent with the automatically generated cards, and I found it frustrating to use. But maybe I'll give it another shot with Textsniper. I wonder if there's a setting (either in the add-on or in textsniper) to copy to clipboard without any newline (' ') characters because I think that might fix most of the problem. Great video!

I dont understand why so many of these apps and addons do everything except the main thing they're meant for. I thought this addon would help make it easier to make flashcards from pdfs. But that's the only thing it doesn't do right. The cloze deletion is basically dysfunctional and you need another app to copy the text and then make the clozes yourself. The only app I've seen that does this properly is polar and that went out of business. I just need one app that lets u generate clozes from pdfs without u having to copy n paste stuff every time and click a million times. Such a simple task and so useful but no lets make something that looks like a flight deck and does everything in the world except this.

Hi, first thanks for your videos, they are really helpful. I just have a question, how do you get that part that says "Total new cards Learned today" and "Total new cards learned this week". Sorry if its a nonsense question , but i am just curious how i can get those stats in my main deck screen. Again, really thanks for your videos, anking and anki are really helpful in my preparation for usmle step 1, and will be for the step 2 also.

I have to say tanks, I buy the anki mastery course, its awsome and really helps me to understand more the use of anki and shows the best and productive way to use it. (I want and wishing to get a very high score in my steps, so that I can apply or try to get into the anking team.) Why don't you just copy and paste it instead of using Text Sniper? You can disable the "Auto Search Function" with a button below, just the left side of the "Note" button.
