Thank you for watching the video. Please note that what is shown in the video is not true incremental reading but an attempt at replicating it with other tools. To experience Incremental reading there is currently no good alternative to SuperMemo supermemo.store/

Incremental reading is so nice. Supermemo is cool too but its user interface is so old it takes a bit to learn. The main advantage of supermemo is its updated algorithm. I think anki is on supermemo 2 algorithm while supermemo is like on its 18th optimization.
@AlexanderAlemayhu3 жыл бұрын
SuperMemo has features I wished we had in Anki like the way you handle topics. Anki is still a very young project, let's see what happens in the future 😃
@angrychicken29163 жыл бұрын
@@AlexanderAlemayhu Yes! hopefully, they change the algorithm too. Anki's gonna be here for a while as everything is opensource compared to SuperMemo which is private. Anki has so many creative minds working on new add-ons and features.

Absolutely amazing. Does it work for PDFS or EPUBS? What about pdfs with latex, what kind of work flow would you recommend?

Hei Swaggy! Unfortunately no support for PDF yet. I am personally not happy with the available options. In the future I might release a new tool for better incremental reading support with Anki. So make sure to subscribe to get notified! If you still want to try something today and don't mind some rough edges, then checkout these projects trying to integrate with Anki. First one is Polar (separate app)[0] the other is Searching, PDF Reading & Note-Taking in Add Dialog (anki add-on)[1]. I have tried to use both and they are either buggy, slow or hard to issue in my opinion. Your mileage may vary. [0]: getpolarized.io/ [1]: ankiweb.net/shared/info/1781298089

This tool looks so cool, and it's a little mindblowing that it's available as an *extension* on chrome! but I'm still in the novice stage in learning how to use Anki in general, and I don't want to overwhelm myself by also trying to learn Notion at the same time 😂 but it's def something I'd want to learn how to use soon. which do you think was more difficult to learn?
@AlexanderAlemayhu3 жыл бұрын
I would use Anki first. The value of Notion to Anki might not be clear before you see how much Anki card creation sucks. The learning curve for Anki is difficult. Most people I have talked to about it will either give up in the beginning before trying again at a later time. Happy learning!

This website is amazing. I wanted to know if this works with pdfs as a lot of my readings PDF format.

Hei Ali! Unfortunately, there is no way to highlight them using the interface in Notion. There is another open source project, Polar. Polar has first-class support for PDF and it can also create flashcards. I was hoping to make a video about this yesterday, but I was experiencing recording issues. Checkout their website and documentation for more information. Hope this helps! getpolarized.io/ getpolarized.io/docs/anki-sync-for-spaced-repetition.html

I think you need to increase the width of the default card so that the horizontal space is used more. Also, a global tagging system will be amazing. I know you guys are working on both of these suggestions. Keep going!!

Nice summarize of incremental reading! I just didn't understand why you opened so many tabs and didn't use them xD
@AlexanderAlemayhu2 жыл бұрын
That's a good observation. So one of the challenges you will be facing when acquiring new knowledge is which sources to use. A strategy I use is to search online and capture things as you see in this video. Due to wanting to keep the video short, I did not show the complete process but in real life, I go through every single of those tabs you see and decide if I want to import them into my database for further processing (reading / extracting / flaschards). Some topics I import takes me a while to read, other topics I read fast while others are just deleted. It depends a lot on the quality of the content. I hope that made sense for you and encourage you to experiment.

@@AlexanderAlemayhu Hello! Ahhh, now i see what you did! I kind do it too, but today i force myself to search more with books (pdfs) and videos when i want to learn something (speaking about uni). I really struggle opening many sites because they always have extra links and i end up lost xD Another alternative i use to not getting lost and when i want to rest my eyes from the computer is to send some articles to my kindle using a chrome extension.

Hi-I hope this doesn't find you too late. I find this idea very neat and effectiveness and am grateful for these tutorials however the cloze deletion feature isn't working for me. It instead displays codes such as {{c1 agriculture}} ( c infront of any cloze deletion request). I am not sure how to resolve this issue, and have searched numerous Anki forums that say the same thing that never work. I am not sure if using your notion 2 anki generator may have caused this problem, but if you can help me solve this problem (very soon) it would be much appreciated.

Hei Victoria 🙂 I would love to help you but first a few questions. Are you new to Anki? If you are new then make sure to watch a few videos to get a better overview of the usage. kzbin.info/aero/PLzOAzzqpDqukg4I2U19qHlaQuIiuyhAmh If you are not to Anki then share your Notion page with alexander@alemayhu.com and I will take a closer look. Thanks!
