Good evening, George. The S & H Greenstamps ashtray interested me. For some reason, I'm drawn to that brand. I like the Safe Home Match crate. The celluloid box would've had to come with me. I spotted the sail, on an old pond boat, next to the plastic model kits. I'd have had to check it for price. Did you get the email I sent you about the Mt. Meadow Dairy milk bottle? I liked the bottom of the table that was behind the anvils. You got a fantastic deal on the Czech vase. I'm more into porcelain vases, especially Czech ones, but that was a pretty one. A lot of great items there. Thanks for taking us along!
@TheAntiqueNomad2 күн бұрын
Hi there! I know what you mean, S&H was so ubiquitous that I notice it whenever it pops up now. The match crate was great because it was early and good graphics. The pond boat was $185, I think? I did not seem to get your email, I'll check on that, I usually do. $12 was too good a buy to pass up the Czech vase, I like both glass and pottery from there! Glad you had fun with this one
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS2 күн бұрын
@@TheAntiqueNomad There are still a couple things here mom got using S & H Green Stamps, and I think there are still some of the stamps here. I would've had to pass on the pond boat 😬😅 I can resend the email. Oh yes, $12.00 on that vase was a steal, for sure.

I have a 8 piece place setting, full set, of Corelle Callaway pattern that I still use daily. I absolutely love Corelle, because it's a lot lighter weight than pottery dishes. Within the last year I also discovered Macbeth Evans Petalware in Monax (white). I got a bargain, 12 place settings, with a few pieces missing for $55... I am still hunting for 12 of the two-handled bowls, and 5 coffee cups, along with some serving pieces. It's absolutely gorgeous to me.

Some years back I donated all of my 'modern' dishes to Goodwill for vintage Corelle Blue Onion. They're thin (great for storage space), indestructible and in my opinion timelessly attractive. Like the mouse-trap they basically nailed the perfect everyday dish design.

I’d love to see that Corning museum at some point . I had no idea Pyrex made that red stripe pattern in dinner ware . Very simple , but so eye catching , and not a victim of the dishwasher . I see quite a few dishwasher damaged pieces of Pyrex in thrift stores here . Another interesting shop .

The Corning Museum is absolutely mind blowing. Was there in 2019. Science, art glass, glass-blowing demos and classes. Endlessly interesting. BTW beware of the glazes on that old Corning and Pyrex cookware and tableware, many contain unsafe levels of lead and cadmium among other heavy metals. ☠️
@TheAntiqueNomadКүн бұрын
I have heard that on the older Corning and Pyrex. Lead and cadmium levels that were permissible in the past don't meet new requirements.

I'd handwash the Pyrex too, it will fade if overly dishwashed. Someone must play croquet, the prices on the sets have gone up!

Hope you made it to Ontario Mall Antiques in Canandaigua. I've not been there in ten years, but the co-op was always packed with super quality merchandise at very fair prices. Lots of eclectic items and a nice assortment of smalls and "bigs." Definitely worth the trip. That said, pickins are pretty slim in the Buffalo area. Clarence, NY used to be a huge antiques destination up until the 1990s, but most of the shops and markets have closed. One exception that might be worth the trip is the Kelly Schultz showroom on Main Street (Route 5/20.) It's in the eastern part of the Town of Clarence, close to the Town of Alden on the south side of the street. They still do antique markets on Sunday during spring and summer, but their main showroom is open year round. SCHULTZ carries high-end furniture and fine porcelain and artwork with high-end pricing to match. They do stock a big assortment of less costly items and are all top quality.

George do you feel like art glass is slowing down at all?
@TheAntiqueNomad2 күн бұрын
I think it is maturing, as markets do. People who were new to it when it resurged in 2020 now have large collections and are upgrading, so the better items are still strong but more common things are slowing. This is typical in the antique market, everything ebbs and flows! People would be well advised to collect what they like and ignore the market (unless they're resellers)

Strap chair is so creepy, it shouldn’t be in a store available to anyone. 🤔🤨 The mistaken store pipeline system as if for sale - too funny. Wondering if people take items they no longer can keep to antique or vintage stores to see if store will buy it from them to reprice for their store? Some $ for owners who don’t know much about their item or don’t wanta sell online nor donate might be an option? Just wondering if the shops bought item that way? Sadly, my area doesn’t have but a couple tiny shops of older items downtown. Virginia 🇺🇸
