Possibilities - John Mayer & Herbie Hancock

This is part of a documentary on Herbie Hancock's album "Possibilities", with the song that he recorded with John Mayer called Stitched Up. It's really interesting on how all these things come together when you are writing a song. Anyway, enjoy!

Wow, what a great video showing the creative process. Hancock is a genius. Mayer is an extraordinary talent, both with guitar and with his singing. And yeah, Herbie talks and feels like an "awake" person...what he said about "possibilities" reminded me of the famous Zen saying: “In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few” - Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind, Shunryu Suzuki.

Forgot what a great song this was. And this video is such a tremendous insight into the creative, collaborative process. A whole group of fans are just now learning what a world class musician Mayer is because of his more recent work with Dead & Co. But Herbie heard something back then. and If Herbie heard it, you knew it was the real deal.

Incredible ! They live through every note they play. There's never been a musician to play with Herbie and make him "one of the guys" on the track. It makes me wonder ... Is there a song played by Prince and Herbie ?
