A premise I've never seen utilized in 65 years of watching horror movies, effectively produced with solid performances. An exceptional effort well worth viewing, a rare gem among most of the garbage produced from the '80s on. For the record, this one was released in '82.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who had fond memories of this being an excellent source of classic 80's horror! I was a mere 10yrs old when I saw this one in the theatres...couldn't wait until it was available on the HBO lineup to keep on scaring myself and my friends with it. I'm sure anyone watching it today, for the first time, will see it as pretty cheesy effects, acting, and storyline. But man oh man was this creepy and freaky back when it came out. Unfortunately, it never seemed to gain much popularity or mention back then, so it became sort of a cult following favorite. Always will be a gem in my book!!

I’ve got the dvd and it’s brilliant - in the dvd case is a film strip of the scene from the movie where the girls are standing in front of Raymars tomb I had to send away to the states to get it at the time!!! It was originally called “Entity Force” here in the uk on VHS with the first 10 minutes cut so you wouldn’t know it was One Dark Night. Entity Force starts with Olivia walking up to her father’s tomb with a rose!!! The outside of the mausoleum was filmed at Hollywood Forever

Meg Tilly was so famous in the late 70s and early 80s, but then she just disappeared. She was an amazing actress and looked like the basic girl next door. I think that is why so many young girls, including me back in the day, loved her and could relate to her characters. Her sister Jennifer Tilly is a good actress as well.

There are a very few movies that I have ever considered terrifying. But this is one of them. I saw it as an adult and it creeped me out for years. Like The Exorcist, I made myself watch it again just to "get victory" over it. Now I own it. But I don't watch it often. Like maybe every few years, during the daylight. BTW, I do not watch The Exorcist. I got victory over that one too. But that was enough. As to Gurby's comment about the effects, They were perfectly suited to the film, IMHO.

I don't remember this movie at all. Of course in the early 80s there were so many films with themes like this. I had never even heard of this movie until hearing it mentioned in Meg Tillys "Cozy Tea Time" KZbin series. I'm a loyal viewer of that series. Meg is one of my favorite actresses. A viewer had left her a message about how she felt filming in an actual mausoleum. She admitted she was very uncomfortable. I've read online that in the DVD commentary, the director (Tom McLoughlin) praised Meg, saying she used that real fear to enhance her performance. Meg said Tom was a real sweetheart of a guy & very supportive.

I remember being up very late on a Friday or Saturday night in 1985 when I was 16 and watching this on TV for the first time. At 1 hour and 17 minutes in when those worms starting coming out of the corpse, I ran to the bathroom and started dry heaving like crazy. 😅

Shout out to my dad. Who- after 30 some odd years of this being the last standing unresolved mystery of media in my vague childhood memories- just the other week threw out the name of this movie while we were having a conversation about all the weird fever dream horror movies I watched on TBS and UPN at 2 in the morning. He had to dig deep in the memory banks for this one. I didn't even get some of the details right and he still nailed it. These days I'm the one that sends him all the B list obscure shit he's never heard of, but he still proves where I got my education from lol. On that note, holy shit these effects creeped me the fuck out as a small. It is wild what was PG.

Thankyou for This... one, if not the earliest horror films I ever saw when I was 4 or 5 in 1985, Australia... Rented on VHS or BetaMax (I can't remember) - and scared me stupid; but enjoyed massively; also fanning the Flames of my imagination, giving a foundation for my first love; Horror, Creatures and the Macabre... Setting the stage for several years of Horror film infatuation....

Leslie Winslow is probably the most well-written female character in a horror movie that makes the right decision. She just skipped all the BS. Not just one time but twice they tried to pull her in and she was like nope. I don't do graveyards.

I saw this back in the day as a kid. It scared the heck out of me! That darn Ramar! I forgot Adam West was in it! A bit of fun when I see it now, especially Adam's dead pan delivery, but an interesting concept, and okay for what it was. 👊
