I am a young teen and I just lost my Mama. She was an opera singer, and sang for 20 years with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. As a child, I vividly remember sitting in the car listening to Mama singing. She sang every time we were in the car. She sang this most often. I still remember her beautiful voice singing these words of praise to the Lord. As a result, I have most of this work memorized. Every time I hear it, it brings back such wonderful memories that I can't stop crying. I think I cried straight through this. I am following in Mama's footsteps by becoming a violinist. I hope to honor her by gaining entrance into the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in time. Thank you for this truly heartfelt performance of one of Vivaldi's greatest works.

Gents, I really do not mind the "Tempo", it seemed correct for me, for my taste. But the beauty of this Vivaldi work is really blatant. For my opinion the Orch., the Choir did very well as well as the soloists and the Conductor, Maestro Mlkeyan. Only one word: Bravissimo ! JAL, from Brazil, South America

I performed this. It is not too fast the tempo is correct. The female vocalists who sang the first duet, have the beautiful, bright and crystal clear voices, full of metal, found in singers of Eastern Europe. (The preference for this type of voice is a matter of personal taste of course.) Vivaldi should not drag. This is a very good performance. The chorus is top notch. Posted by Tarik's mother Phyllis

I've performed this (as a member of the bass section) and heard it performed a dozen times, and this is one of the best performances, if not THE best, I've ever seen. The PRECISION and accuracy, the aggressiveness of the attacks and cut-offs, the lovely dynamic shadings, are all simply magnificent. This is a world-class ensemble that I would put up against the Atlanta Symphony under the baton of Robert Shaw without any fear of it being put in even a square inch of shade. Simply outstanding.

Fine performance of Vivaldi's entire RV 589 work. The soprano solo (M. Galoyan) with oboe and organ accompaniment beginning at 10:30 was especially moving. The applause of the audience most certainly was well deserved.

wasn't that such a rich and warm sound from the contralto? really wonderful to listen to, and such a great blend with the soprano. i love the courageous tempo, really brings out the Vivaldi. melodic, lyrical; you don't need enunciation when you are singing a wholly familiar text in Latin, what difference does it make. bold, brassy from the first measure. really had me sitting bolt upright. very bright sound. when i've sung this it always seemed to drag, though of course i love the piece. this reading brought it to life alright. thanks for the post. I've sung this a couple of times with my choir, and heard it performed several more times by others, but this is by far the crispest, most energetic and exciting rendition I've heard. It's exactly how this work should be performed. All power to the conductor for keeping the singers and instrumentalists up to speed in the faster passages - a surprising tempo at first, but then you realise just how right it is. It would have been thrilling to hear live.

BROVO! BROVO! WOW! Great job all the way around! From the interpretation,to the presentation! Was not aware of this kind of talent and dedication to the classics in Armenia,wonderful to see! That statement was made out of ignorance, and not intended to be not sarcastic. Too fast maybe for a "purest" that often times judges everything from the "exactly the way it is supposed to be" perfectionist position! But hey,that is their taste or preference which is ok also! I just do not think that the orchestra itself should be "critiqued" without adding "for my liking or taste" than just making a statement! Is not art as well as music "supposed" to be about interpretation? That is why there is so much diversity in both. There was absolutely "nothing" wrong with the interpretation,I personally thought that it expressed "more" life and enthusiasm than the "traditional"! Look at the Boston Pops for example,I can appreciate their talent,and skill but I do not "personally" like their "style" because I prefer a "classical" style. Some people love their style! Splendida scelta delle voci femminili che cantano senza usare portamenti lirici...ma scolpendo le parole come insegna il canto gregoriano e legando in maniera nobile. Il prete Rosso conosceva benissimo il canto Gregoriano e Monteverdiano......orchestra e Coro perfetti....una vera sorpresa...e il direttore che si capisce Ama questo capolavoro assoluto. This unheralded little chamber group deserves much wider exposure! Every player, every member of the chorus, and every soloist (who a marvelous always) is in dead earnest. This concert would be inappropriate during Holy Mass but a portion of the Gloria is easily arranged so that its length does not keep the celebrant waiting and delaying the Mass. As for the fast tempo of this production, I'd say it moves along joyfully just fine.

Perfect performance! I love this tempo! All Bach / Vivaldi / Mozart works should be played faster, not like a funeral hymn. Our brains developed further since those times and I'm sure we're more capable to pay attention to all parts even at a higher tempo. Moreover, because of this pace of life we live nowadays, higher tempos are more enjoyable for us...

There is a fine tradition of western music in Armenia. You can hear the "but" coming ... First movement too fast. It's allegro not prestissimo. In general lack of enunciation in the choir in all movements and particularly the two sopranos in the "Laudamus Te". The contralto was outstanding…

I love the tempo. Singing it this fast requires a lot of precision from the choir, ensemble and conductor. Definitely not for large choirs/orchestras. Some of the parts we were never able to sing this hastily with my choir...

People who like this will also like Bach's Magnificat. I have both on the same recording. Also one Christmas I went to a concert where both were performed. We all need to make a special effort to go see live music after this Covid thing is over.

Maravilloso este "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" de Vivaldi. Sus "Cuatro Estaciones" han ensombrecido MUY INJUSTAMENTE el resto de sus obras, todas dotadas de un excepcional arte y profundidad musical. Ahora, a mis casi sesenta y nueve años, he descubierto para mí a este GENIO italiano de la música barroca, algunas de cuyas obras ha sido copiadas por músicos geniales como el propio Juan Sebastián Bach. Pero, como dice el "dicho", más vale tarde que nunca.
