Wow, this really does look like an enormous AK/PK with that stock, grip and rock-in magazine. I think it even uses a similar side-rail optics adapter.

@@specialforces3114 I wasn't aware of that, but that's what I meant. Because it was a stopgap (and a fairly new concept for them, probably), they used as many old and known elements as they could.

It's a shame Yuri's hard earned collection of awesome captured equipment couldn't be kept even after deactivation 😔 Oh well his team has some interesting stuff in the arms locker potentially, and his use of his machine shop and expertise in engineering/design/manufacturing of important parts to support Ukraine is more valuable overall than making insane videos as a humvee gunner... By the way it's expensive to move an entire machine shop to Ukraine and set everything back up after finding an appropriate safe location with the neccessary power requirements... So Paul aka Yuri could use your support in getting around ITAR regulations and supplying components as easy/fast as possible! 😉👍 (for those interested, he also took very precise measurements and shippable components of certain extremely rare captured soviet/russian firearms that could be produced for the US civilian market in the future to help support his efforts 😉 Although you only get to sell those once if he can't find a smaller capable producer... and usually only guaranteed to be valuable after a working proof of concept firearm has been built using US available machines/ aftermarket parts/foreign parts kits...)

Sure it’s gas operated? Because there’s no visible gas tube or vents when firing. I would have said it looked like blow-back operated but at 4:20 it fails to go back into battery, indicating a breach lock of some kind. I can’t put a finger on why but I suspect this is a delayed blowback weapon. Maybe it’s the length of travel of the charging hand, it’s given a much longer slot than necessary for gas operation. Maybe it’s the solid upper/lower receiver. My guess is the bolt looks a little like a FAMAS on the inside.

Definitely think you're right I couldn't find anything solid about operation. Definitely not piston driven, not recoil operated. So gas blowback seems the most likely. Just not sure if its delayed or straight. Not sure what the bolt velocities are.

I can imagine this being a good weapon to have in a fixed position (ags-30 would be better though) Or even better to follow up on an attack with, similar to how the MG08/15 was used Its definitely got more firepower than a single shot GL, i can see this having niche use but only be good as a standard weapon if it was combined with a rifle or even a PDW, similar to the OICW

It (and the ammo) is so heavy that it's really only practical in a vehicle or for static defense. The troops holding the inactive parts of the border might appreciate them.

I think such design, maybe was inspired based on US XM25 and PRC QLU-11 grenade launcher which designed as conventional sniper variants (only difference is lack of programmed device and grenades) But such design, maybe in the future we might able to get a practical Bolter for all military forces

You can also investigate where is Stugna and other newer weapon like Bogdana or if was Bayraktar plant ever made or started to be constructed. Interesting things are going on, like defence lines being not made or people not being evacuated (remember Bucha things). Some russian stuff is going on.

Use the front sling ring on the bolt handle as a teather. Wrap the stock up so it is short and just reaches the pulled bolt.

It reminds me of Pallad M, Polish mag fed automatic grenade launcher which also didnt get into serial production. Although if it was adopted, i think it could be really useful, especially that it was designed for low velocity 40x47mm ammunition based on US 40x46mm.

The PLA is using their own version of this semi auto grenade rifle. I suppose this type of weapons will continue to be developed because of it's portability and faster rate of fire than the single shot ones.

I always wandered what a "general purpose grenade launcher" would look like. Something like the new Ohio Ordinance Reapr but made for 40mm grenades instead. Actually if you want to move to other grenades it would be fine, but something capable of indirect fire .

What were the small grenade launchers the US used in Nam? Should dig in some stockpile and send those to Ukraine. They seemed really portable, and a skilled shot could do work with them. This thing is just too cumbersome to use, recoil seems pretty bad also...

Unfortunately those were made of aluminum. They had very low pressures. New issues grenades are either a bit more powerful or much more powerful. Most likely modern grendes would cause that Vietnam issue grenade launch to disassemble itself right next to your face. There’s a modern five shot revolver grenade launcher that would be very helpful imo.

The iron sights will have a ladder or adjustments for range. Estimate range, elevate weapon, fire. Accuracy won't be great, compared to flatter shooting weapons, but it fires a grenade, so near-misses can still be deadly.
