Hi Kyle wonderful demo and I have added a new supply to my box. You taught me paper towels are not for just wiping my brushes. I can't wait to give paper towels to paint with a try. So happy I found you on KZbin!

It’s a great idea to use a paper towel initially to block in your shapes as it prevents you from paying too much attention to detail. It frees you up to paint more expressively. There is a lot of very useful information in Kyle’s demos and I’m very grateful to him for devoting his time to it. I would just love to know how he carries his work back home when it’s still so wet.

Kyle, I just tried using low and high chroma primaries for my outdoor plein air painting. I had fun with it, and enjoyed ivory black as a toned down blue, quite interesting ! Thank you for these videos !

please ignore my question about greens....I rewatched the video and saw you mixing a range of greens. I think Lemon Yellow is to transparent when mixing with ultra M, so maybe I'll try Cad Yellow Lt instead. Thanks for the demo and all the great tips!

How do you manage to keep your paint from dripping down? Also, do you save the extra paint and, if so, how do you carry the palette around?
@peggymary

I am having a heck of a time with atmospheric perspective, particularly with cool and warm GREENS! I see use use a limited palette. I do too- I use Ultramarine blue and lemon yellow on mine which seems to limit the greens I can get...how do you get a range of greens without adding green form the tube to my palette? (warm and cool) (I don't like using black and yellow as I know a lot of artists use)

Did you ever try to go with a tin layer of paint first and after go with a ticker layer to finish. The darks are supposed to be thin and the lights ticker

Hey Kyle, thanks for all your efforts making these videos and taking the time to respond to your viewers. I have a question about the finished works on your website-- are those completed in the field or in a studio? Perhaps a combination of the two? Can you comment on your process?
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 6 жыл бұрын
GFReamy , Thanks so much for your kind words:) The available work on my website is a mixture of both studio and Plein air work. Be some are soley Studio piece , some are plein Air and others were started plein air and finished inside. I'm always using one to bolster the other ...so when I'm in the studio I can utilize my knowledge of color and atmosphere from when I'm outside. Working inside teaches me about interpreting the subject and not copying the photo. Inside, I can also slow down and consider design a little more. So they work hand in hand:)! Thanks for watching!

Why do you use oil paints versus acrylics? Do you consider oil paints to be a better quality of paint and color? I love your work, style and technique...and educational method.
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I like to work one color into another color on the canvas and the longer drying time of oil paint allows for this more easily than acrylic. I will sometimes switch to acrylics just too play around a bit and enjoy trying different media but have always gravitated more towards oils than anything else. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching!

What did I do wrong? I did a dark undertone with my painting. The next morning the entire painting was VERY DARK. What happened?
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 6 жыл бұрын
Deb MacDonald hmm not sure..never had that happen. What medium and paint thinner are you using? Also what colors did you use for your underpanting?
@GFReamy
@GFReamy 6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you were working in direct sunlight? We tend to paint darker, then when the work is viewed indoors it appears way dark.

Kyle, I think what I did was NOT wipe off the dark toned paint ! I finished another plein air and had no problem with the dark bleeding through. I just watched 2 of your videos again last evening and I am pretty sure this was my problem. Again, thank you for the opportunity of these videos you are posting! I am really benefitting from all of the information you are so eager to share. Keep up the great work!
