Good luck but heads up: don't be a goofball and get arrested. They dont like over 18s turning up on vandalism charges and they'll be more than happy to throw the book at you if you do. It's not like school shenanigans any more after 18, which is why you rarely see anyone over 18 doing it unless they're pro.

Hey man this was probably the most intelligent tutorial I’ve ever seen. I’ve used to do graffiti a lot as a kid and am relearning how to create digitally and when I came across this video. @@adevore1971 lol oh ill be honest, i thought applique was a made up word they created for the company lol i had no clue it actually meant something hahaha. Im in Pennsylvania, not too far from Philly. The symbol is just a cyclops smiley face, its based off a cartoon cyclops character i had made some years back. I think you can for sure hop into your art, its never too late. if ya ask me chase it, art is too awesome to let pass :D

I believe this week ends on letter distortions but that might be the first video in batch two, havent decided yet. Either way, any advanced techniques are just the basics layered over and over so if you learn these things then advanced techniques will be easy and if someone should know advanced techniques then learning these basic things again should enhance their advanced techniques

write the letter as cleanly and neatly as possible in print then replicate it exactly using the formula in this video. hell you can even just type out S and C then replicate on paper what you see on the screen. the key is to learn the letter in piecing form in its absolute basic structure and if you can do what i said above then you're fine.

when you first start off it's best to connect both as this not only makes it harder to break the letter but also increases structure. As you get better you can connect on one vertex here and there and you'll be fine

@@jessieramona2184 in some cases that could get out of hand so id advise against that until you learn the letter. if you cant make the whole name work fine with equal boxes then you still have some learning to do otherwise you'll avoid the issue and it will bite you in the back later. with htat said, you can really do anything to a letter so long as you dont break it so making the center thinner could certainly work if you dont over do it, but i just want to make sure you learn how to work the letter without that, that way you dont run into problems later.

Typography will be what teaches you that. There are some differences in graffiti with a few of the terms but it's not that many that are different and the only place to learn that stuff is from me

The #1 best way to get good at graff is to imitate or "bite" other styles until you feel comfortable using the methods you've learned to create your own styles. Sitting here watching a video explain some technical bullshit won't make you good. Practicing from examples is the fastest and easiest way to learn.

8:30 my friend, that right there has your answer. I recommend thinking of the letter X as being no different than the print version. Have the top reach the cap line, the bottom reach the base line and the middle where the two diagonals intersect reach the mean line. If you do that then you're all good to go
