Here’s what a lot of young artists don’t know when they coming into the music business, getting ready to sign their first contract. #1 Hire an ENTERTAINMENT lawyer to look over the contract with you while you are in that label meeting, not a regular lawyer, nor the lawyer that works for the record label. #2 Have the Entertainment lawyer explain any words or phrases that don’t sound familiar, or transparent. For example, the word “perpetuity” which means “the property of lasting forever” is a deadly word that record execs put in their contracts to KEEP an artists royalties, masters, and publishing. #3 understand what points mean, and what percentages (splits) the label is offering for your publishing, royalties, and masters.
@BTman58Ай бұрын
People who are serious about getting into the business should learn about the business way before trying to get a deal. The bad stories have been out there for years to the point that everybody knows about artist being jerked. If people say Diddy stole based solely off of a contract then that man never stole a dime. If he giving out standard contracts how is he a thief and nobody else is? @IAM1OUTOF60 I don't listen to queer music. I don't like Queen Puff. Never heard them weak songs you talking about. I only heard of Black Rob Whoa! All Bad Boy artists sucked except that fat boy from Brooklyn. They all were one hit wonders and featured Queen Puff all dancing in the video and all on record…come to Death Row 😆 oh my bad

Thank you G-Dep for speaking the truth! The other artist are made at themselves for doing bad business but want to blame others. Simple.
