Page and Plant used to record in a small studio above the fishing village of Salcombe in the UK. You could occasionally see Robert Plant in one of the local pubs if you were down there on holiday. I used to go there with my family and caught sight of him once. You can actually rent the studio they used as a holiday home now, pretty cool place to stay.

He played with saving grace a few months back at our venue, similar set up, whilst setting up he bursts into our crew kitchen saying "I was here 50 years ago with a Preston (town) band, but I don't remember it, I just want to know how much damage we did?" we looked through the archives but couldn't find anything so we surmised it was when they were the new yardbirds, he was a lovely bloke and very polite, what a dude! the gig was great too!

I was at the first show of this tour, in Tulsa OK at the Cain's Ballroom - - great show. Was standing room, got three layers from the stage. He seems to be struggling a bit physically, but the vocal chords still work fine. This may be Plant's last time out; he's got to be 75 years old. Got video, with surprisingly good audio. Wonderful show. I'm a massive Zep fan.

I still have that post-pandemic glow of gratitude that live music concert venues are back up and running. My only criticism would be ticket prices. Tool came to city near me this past summer. Tickets were as high as $1600.00 and there were a lot that weren't to much below that.

Yess! Been looking forward to this one 🙂. T shirt looks great. I do the same if I'm not familiar with the music I'll listen to a bunch before hand, it's always good when you recognize at least one song, you kinda feel like you belong there just a little bit more. Lucky that guy was so wasted he didn't react and start throwing punches🤘🏻🔥 So cool they played Gallows Pole and Battle of Nevermore. I would've been in heaven as well if I got to see Robert live, hopefully it'll happen one day. I would've got goosebumps if I heard When the Levee breaks :-)

Gen admission only works if the act is still up and coming or if it's a niche genre like a blues fest. Hope you're planning a review of the upcoming Iron Maiden show this fall. When I saw them in St. Paul on the Souls tour, it was almost unbelievable how good they still sound. No backing tracks needed when it's Bruce singing.

I think, purely personal opinion, if you told the dancing couple that they are not allowed to be there with a strict tone, you could've pulled off. But sometimes the security gets stricter towards the main set and you could've been kicked out that place anyways. It's a gamble.

So yeah, as an update, went to the show on 6/19 at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. AMAZING show! And venue. So don't know how to compare to other venues but at Wolf Trap they had $5 tickets right up to showtime to sit on the lawn. I didn't know how that worked when I first commented last week but the view was not good at all from those sections. And they were full. Thankfully I had already upgraded to $25 tickets to sit a little higher up. The place was slammed but the lines at food/bathroom/entrance moved fast..and we did have canned Jack and Coke for the small price of $14...it was freaking good though! Mid 90's temp but a good breeze through the ampitheater. JD McPhersons' set was awesome. I think for me the "Price of Love" and "High and Lonesome" were my two favorite songs to hear them perform. The droning of Where the Levee Breaks sent chills up my spine. All in all, THANK YOU, for bringing my attention to this duo. I knew about them but never considered seeing them live, thankful this was my sons first live show. Would highly recommend.

Plant envied Elvis. Elvis sang whatever he wanted to sing and excelled at it. Plant was committed to being the hard rock/rock stereotype. Very interesting stuff.

Yeah at a concert in Iowa the other day Plant wore the exact same black and pink shirt Elvis wore on the Milton Berle show. I assume he bought the shirt from Lanky Bros in Memphis, the same clothier Elvis shopped at. I actually got to meet Hal Lansky, and a photo of him with Robert Plant is in the store, apparently Robert Plant shops there often.

They were really telling people to sit down, in the General Admission section, of an outdoor show? Lawn chairs seems like a cheat, especially when one or two people are guarding a two person family’s worth of them. The first three Lollapalooza’s, had no seats. Not for the crowd. Atlanta used to have a great outdoor venue, with seating near what would be the Orchestra Pit, and surrounding area, for a different show, with general admission the rest of the place. The grass field was big enough, that one could walk back to where people are all 15-20 feet apart, and the sound was still good. I’ve had venue folks, let me sit right on the stage, only to be ruined by some jealous jerk, complaining about it.

I'm willing to bet the "rowdy girl" and her boyfriend were part of the security staff. They spot people too close to the vital areas (or trouble in the crowd) and "get wild" for a moment or two to call the heavies over to usher you along. It doesn't disrupt the show for more than a minute or two and nobody thinks twice about it in the long run of the night.

I saw this tour last year. Meh. It was Plant! Awesome. Amazing. He sounds great! But, the audience was bored. First, JD bored the audience. Nobody was interested. The bass was just a mush of sound, so it had no groove. I blame the sound desk. Only his take on Iggy Pop made the audience rock, but it went long. The drummer was great, who used to play with Rev Horton Heat. As for Plant. His re-invention of his sound was interesting, but the audience often didn't respond to songs. They'd start playing, it would go on for a minute, then a line would be sung and the audience would scream. In The Mood was like this, many Zep songs were like this. I wrote a book about Zep, I've heard it all, solo and Zep, and I didn't recognize songs. They were interpreted a bit too far off, and the audience didn't recognize the songs. The only thing I remember is When The Levee Breaks, which was an extended version with violin and mandolin, and really cool. It was nice to see him, but I wouldn't see him again. it was an outdoor show like yours and we were 30 feet from the stage for JD and then stepped back a 100 yards for Plant as a friend with me had to come and go.

No, he meant Jeff. He was Tim’s son. Died in a drowning accident, in the 90’s, just after his real major label debut was released. If he’d lived, he’d have likely been one of the top artists into the 2000’s, as a songwriter, singer and a very unique guitarist. Check out Jeff Buckley in Germany. What Would you Say, is my favorite, but he has many great songs in that show. It’s at a small club, snd it’s a television broadcast.
