I had a Diana camera many years ago..I believe it was 1965 I received it as a birthday present that year. As I recall first couple of rolls of film I shot with it the images looked great to a twelve year old kid, and I felt like a 'pro photographer' carrying that thing around. All was good until my Mom accidentally left my beloved Diana camera inside the car on the seat in the hot sun, and my Diana camera essentially baked in the sun and was ruined. That camera though started me out for a love of photography. Great video brought back memories.

I took a photography class my first year of college and we learned how to shoot with Diana cameras. Besides pinhole cameras, that's all we shot with, and NOW I'M OBSESSED 😍

I'm actually waiting for a Windsor and a group of five vintage Diana cameras to come to me, and watching this video gets me excited to see them and shoot rolls of film!!!!

In the summer of 1970 I was 8 years old and flew with my mother and sister to San Francisco with a layover at Chicago O'Hare. This was my first trip on an airplane. While waiting for our plane, we visited the airport gift shop where I begged my mother to buy me a Windsor (Diana). Fifty one years later, I still have the camera and the box it came in complete with the $1.99 price tag on the box. The camera has been well used, and is the second camera I have owned. The first was a Baby Box Brownie that I bought at a garage sale for twenty five cents. My third camera was a new Hawkeye 126 camera that I was given as a gift when I was about 9 or 10. I still have that camera as well!

Had one of those back in the 60s. Still do, somewhere. Took surprisingly good snaps. Gotta find it now!

favorite camera and film combo EVER Diana and either tx400 or ektar 100 since you can either get a vintage looking black and white or dreamy warm colorful shots with ektar.

Greetings. Around 2000 I took black and white classes at City College in San Diego. My instructor happens to be A. E. Fournet who also teaches workshop in Prague during the summer. Anyway she uses nothing but Diana cameras. She has a huge collection of the vintage models and the company that makes the camera made her a personal Diana camera. She is also a published photographer and the pictures are from Diana's. She only does black and white. Look her up, an underrated artist. She is now the Dean of Photography at the University of Tennessee.

when I ask for prints after using a frame mask, do they have to be printed in the size of the frame? Like will I get a 4.6cm x 4.6cm sized print when I get them printed?

I have one of the Lomography Diana cameras. I've shot 2 rolls with it, and only 3 pictures came out on the first roll. And I can't get the other roll developed because it's a C22 process and no one does it anymore for a reasonable price.

I seem to recall that my Diana camera (circa 1967) came free by sending away a few tops from some cereal packets (this was in the UK). The back was cracked when it arrived and my first film (colour print) had red streaks on all the shots. I fixed it with shaped paper mache painted black with model paint and used it happily for several years. I still have some of the pics, and from looking at the shots you took here, the lens must have been one of the best they ever produced (lol). Still not great though.

The Diana and Holga have shown me that good photography transcends me sharpness. Digging back through the years I found in my scrapbook a picture I took in high school (1956) with my only camera then, a Uniflex TLR. Not great, not terrible camera, but the picture is still one of my favorites. When I look at some of the masters, particularly street photographers, sharpness or lack thereof is usually irrelevant. A great concept or moment or emotion can be conveyed with a so-so, even primitive, camera. Maybe I should go back to my first, an Ansco Panda?

Its better with the photo`s from the camera to go along with your dialogue. I recently received a Coronet 6-6, its a bakelite camera which takes 120 film, made in Aston, Birmingham, UK. An option to plastic?...lol. Keep up the good work as i really enjoy the videos.

Well this is my thought, I like the film, hopefully film labs will get more costumers, a lot of whom are going to come from Urban Outfitters. The one problem being that many teens dont know film and so when they get back their images, their unhappy and will never use film again.

I had a "Windsor" when I was nine years old! It cost around $2. processing the film cost more than the camera! It had light leaks and lens distortion, but it took pictures. I was happy! I think I ordered it from an advertisement on the back of a popsicle wrapper. LOL.

Hey Ted, thanks for the review on the Diana. I wanted to tell you the city of Dallas demolished the "Art Tunnel" to put in a rail line. It was a sad day because Good Records closed too. Hang on to your Deep Ellum pics... it's getting gentrified and most of the landmarks are vanishing.

@dominicsevilla1189

Haley Kong my first roll through my Diana was an expired Astro black and white 200 iso. It turned out amazing and blew me away. It was my first time shooting medium format film (as well as film in general) it was the lomography one right out of the box so I did way overspend but worth it to me.

Wasn't there a decent Russian camera called the Smiena that this camera may have been copied from. The Smiena was low cost intended for teenagers and young adults. I had a chance to use back in the '80's, and have to say the lens an build quality was much better.

@gale That's what I've been thinking. atm I'd rather get an Afga Click II for 5 euro. (my grandpa's Afga Sillete LK and my Parat I are to advanced in comparison) It will probably have the same effect no shipping costs.
