I really really like that you took comparison photos! So great to see a different camera for reference. It’s often so hard to gauge how good a camera is without seeing images from another camera.
@jansayga14658 ай бұрын
the results are really reminiscent of a disposable camera so if that’s a look someone strikes at with more information due to the larger negative size - it’s a great choice!

it's absolutely is a medium format disposable, and it's so fun!

These have got to be some of the best images I've seen come out of a Holga and that glass lens model definitely helps. amazing work

Such great content bro! Part of shooting film is taking chances and I love that you share that process with us! I’ve heard bad stuff about the Holga but now I wanna pick one up after seeing your images😅

Aw bad stuff??? They're fun little cameras, just can't expect anything other than disposable results!

I used to shoot holga for a few things for years. I love the look of the images. It failed me on a backpacking trip when some wild ponies let me chill with them and the shutter got stuck. Have not used one since but I may try again

You're so right about how it's, of course, nice to have the professional/pristine quality of the RB, but there is something charming about the imperfections of the Holga. And your railing shot with the Holga? I mean, come on! Great work, as always!

Light leaks could be from not winding the film tight enough at the end of the roll. When I finish a roll of 120 I like to roll it real tight with my thumbs and index fingers on each end of the roll before sealing it with the tape. Just a thought.
@linusandhiscamera8 ай бұрын
true! definitely not the case here as the light leak is consistent at that amount of leak throughout the roll, vertically. it's either from the lab, or each camera has a light leak in the exact same way that effects each roll

These are very cool, love the shots at 7:30 especially. I've just bought myself a Holga and shot half a roll but the weather is so dull at the moment in the UK. I think I read somewhere that the batteries can sometimes shift when you're using it, which could be why the flash is playing up? Some people have taped them down before putting the frame mask in. Also, mine was second hand and the battery compartment was so corroded I had to literally file down the contacts before the flash would work.

Always love your photos man. Lowkey love the holga and your photos here on both cameras are great! Try the 6x6 mode. The built in vignette is so nice on these. Because they’re toy cameras and cheaply made you get vastly different results from camera to camera. You should look into some of the things artists have accomplished with these things.

To know if there's going to be camera shake, there's an actual formula for that. 1/focal length=minimum shutter speed. So if you have a 60mm like on the Holga, you can hand-hold it down to 1/60th of a second. 200mm telephoto, 1/200th of a second. And so on.
@linusandhiscamera8 ай бұрын
never knew that!! gonna have to try that out soon. thanks!
@GautamMenon4 ай бұрын
sometimes these super light cameras are harder to keep stable hand held as well, but that's for sure a good rule of thumb

Interesting photos. At f8 you are losing a stop of light so bring your subject into the light or use a flash especially with a holga in shadows. It seems alot of film photographers on these channels are afraid to use flash and would rather pull out highlights and brighten in photoshop/lightroom for some reason. You had very few light leaks with the Holga which is unheard of . I tape mine up up like fort knox with electrical tape. Then again mine is one of the early models.

For a 50 $ camera I'm actually surprised how well the image quality is😲😲😲 I mean wow ! Also the mamiya had more clarity in its images but aethestic wise holga looked good equally if not better !

Dude, I had a similar light leak with my Mamiya 645 pro shooting black and white. I don't know what's up it seems like if you were to get one on 120 it would be on the edges after you finish the roll. Something is haunting us lol

@clmrsmn8 ай бұрын
the holga always gets kinda shat on by other youtube photogos because its not high end enough for them and the lens is soft but lowkey thats the point of it and its also a great intuitive and cheap way into medium format, which is notoriously expensive. also the lightleaks on some of the RB shots were cold
@linusandhiscamera8 ай бұрын
not fair to sh*t on it when it's whole thing is making disposable-like images on a medium format camera!

Such a funky light leak. It’s orange so it’s coming from the front at least… it’s also in the right place for the dark slide but it’s too consistent to be that and also too consistent to be from developing… Would love to hear the result :-)
@robertwaffel82488 ай бұрын
fun episode. I still wonder why one would purchase a Holga over an old medium format folding camera which can be had for the same price and would do literally everything better.
@szecek8 ай бұрын
When it works. Usually, old cameras need to be serviced and lubricated to work properly, and that costs more than the camera. Also, why not have both?
