Beautiful demonstration, great display of technique and excellent movement by Jordan. Congratulations Jordan Ellis. It must be a great feeling to be awarded by your Father and roll with a Professor Roy Dean at the end. OSS

I was watching Roy Dean Blue belt 2.0 and realized it was Jordan and recognized him from the art of skill crash course in bjj. I had wondered if he had his purple belt yet. I’m so glad to see this. Congratulations Jordan!

I can only dream of the time I get to be as quality a practitioner as the students in this video. The quality of your belts seem very high from a beginners eyes. Best cinematic BJJ vids on KZbin. Wish I lived near the studio/school you run.

Keep showing up. When I first started I had purple do what they want and I couldn't defend. I've been a purple belt for a year and whites and blues look at me the same way. Don't stop showing up and you'll get there. Remember it's a journey not a destination

Unbelievable.........I was searching purple belt explanations as I was wondering if my bluebelt experience is in alignment with the requirements or understanding as a purple. This video just humiliates my ego. This is the most comprehensive and skilled bluebelt level I have ever witnessed. Back down to "I suck" level I go.

That was very well done. Few gyms/academies have tests these days. Jordan was mentioning the requirements that he “prepared for”. What are those? When did he start specifically preparing, relative to his test? Who determined his partners for the rolling portion?
@TheArtofSkill3 жыл бұрын
We stay pretty faithful to the requirements that Roy Dean established for each belt. Usually we give students a couple months to get ready. The rolling partners are chosen by the coach spontaneously that day.

@@TheGunnyBadger03xx interesting. Stripes do help identify progress through the colored belts. Interesting that you do it with white and black but not others. To each his own.

Generally when you're asked to put a demo together it's because you're at that level and ready for the challenge. We don't call them tests, we call them demos, because it's an opportunity for you to showcase your BJJ in front of your friends, family, and teammates. It's a rite of passage more than a test. It takes work to put a solid demo together, and the process always gives your game a big boost. That's why we do it. We think of it as sharpening the blade as you cross into the new rank. That said, it's always harder than the student think it's going to be. A lot harder, actually. But with the right preparation, most do pretty well. Almost everyone gasses out to some extent. I've been to a few demos where they didn't manage their energy well and crawled to the finish line.
