Just sharing an idea...I have gridded for years because when I was a kid there were puzzle books that had gridd puzzles. When I started to grid art, I found I was having trouble finding my square. I did #’s in one direction and letters in the other. That allows me to mark specific squares to stay on track. For example square A1, F16 etc.

This is my most favorite tutorial you have ever done. Thank you for inspiring me because I had lost my aspiration/mood to paint for a very long time. I have OCD. There is a tiny spot (where you face the painting) on the Magnolia leaf - the far left petal toward the top of it - where you did not go back and make a more definitive outline as you did in the rest of the leaves......it's like I'm seeing a tiny smear of white. Was that intentional, or is something you just didn't notice. I kept thinking - she's going to go back over there and catch that. Again OCD. Thank you. Caroline

If you only have light cad yellow, should you add anything to it to make it more like a medium cad yellow? Or is will you get similar results just maybe a little brighter? Will it make a big difference in the long run? My art supply stores are running very low on paint supplies during this quarantine, and I'm needing to find some ways to adapt.

How do you use your reference when it's smaller to figure out your grid?

I am going to venture a guess that you are referring to what I drew the grid and the elements of the painting in with, and yes, it is chalk, and I am using the Dritz chalk tool that can be found in most craft stores in the fabric section, or online also. I got mine from Amazon 💓

No need to be sorry at all - I make my photo refernce collages by hand and then paint them. I have some that go deeper into realism some that are more painterly. Just really depends on the day and what the community asks for. Have an awesome day
