Dearest Sherpa! I love the painting you did! You are the best teacher on KZbin! Now I have a question for you,dear Sherpa. Have you ever tested the Arteza Premium Acrylic paint? I got a set of those from my fiance and that set has 60 tubes of colors in it, 22ml in a tube! Until now I have nothing to complain about them,just the labeling of the colors how they suppose to look like is in 95% of them totally wrong,but positivly wrong! In Germany I don't have the budget or the ability to get pro paints like Golden or Liquitex etc. In fact I asked Golden and Liwuitex three times to send me samples, they told me they would return to my request but never did! So this is the closest I can get to more proffessional paint and affordable acrylic pro paints! What do you think about the Arteza premium acrylic paint? Thank you for all you do! Be blessed! Lots of Love from me,Manuela from Germany,to you dear Sherpa and John!

Hi Cinnamon, I will try this method I have not been able to prepare a Blended Background like this so far maybe sponge would be easier as I lift the paint even though I am very gentle just dusting away. Let’s see I hope it works. Thank you for a great lesson. Do you have more blended background like this one?
@TheArtSherpa2 жыл бұрын
Well I think you’ll love learning the sponge method. It sounds like you might be having a binding problem with the paint if it’s lifting. That’s a little hard to troubleshoot remotely but it is some thing that does come up time to time. I had the hardest time with binding on Liquitex basics. But really can happen with any brand. The sponge method can be I useful work around and I do have more videos with the sponge blend.

Hi Art Sherpa (or anyone else reading), While doing this very lovely painting for my grandparents, I recalled my sister berating me not on how good the piece was but on how I "copied" my artwork, it wasn't "really mine", and it wasn't "genuine". That was a long time ago on one of your old tutorials. But it got me wondering. What are your thoughts on "copying" artwork, even if it's a tutorial? I think no matter how hard you try to "copy" an artwork, it will always turn out different than the one produced on screen, and that's a good thing, because that individualizes your artwork. What are your thoughts?
@TheArtSherpa6 жыл бұрын
I think its hard to learn with out observing, practicing and doing so often. I think if you copy to learn and grow its brilliant. I think take classes do tutorials and just fill your inner artist box with every skill and technique you can.
@arianaeshraghi94626 жыл бұрын
Great answer! Loved painting with you. I think I'll do another one today.

@Nikele19674 жыл бұрын
So, the background ugh!! every time I put the sponge to paper with paint it puts out some paint but when I dab it takes all the paint off so instead I tried to go in circles, which REALLY took all the paint off. Am I supposed to use and exact consistency in my paint? You use heavy body, do you add water? Do you mix anything into it? YOu used to use gloss glazing liquid by Golden. Is that in your paint for this project? Mine looks terrible and I am not a terrible painter. I do fine with your paintings, even past 3 hoots. why is this background so hard? If my sponge is too wet i squeezed it all the way out. Id didn't matter as long as I am using a sponge, it takes off the paint I am trying to put on. Is it because I am using a very small section of sea sponge that is flat? Is a dish sponge or flat sponge imperative? Thanks Cinn. What I did is paint the apple green over my whole attempt to paint the bird. When it dries we shall see. Maybe I will just highlight behind the bird and just leave the rest.

I was wondering if it would be possible to do this colourful honey eater in watercolour,gauche or pastels? As I have done a quick sketch of this acrylic painting in my mixed media sketch book tonight.
