I saw 0 people talking about the actual lore content in the comments but I'ma be a freak and do it anyways, although I guess I only have one thing to wonder. Not for the first time a Dark Souls lore person has cast Lloyd as a charlatan and a fraud, and I get where that comes from, but considering Lordran's propaganda machine, and the frankly insane fanatical devotion of basically everyone involved in any aspect of linking the fire/usurping the flame, could Lloyd have grown weary of the great plan after some centuries of sending his followers to their deaths in the name of dead his nephew's plots? If he turned on the gods, it may not have been from callous greed or desire, but the propaganda machine would certainly treat him that way. They aren't going to publish an honest report that says Lloyd has decided to opt out of the linking of the fire due to the thousands of years of suffering and countless lives/kingdoms ruined by it, what a great guy. They're going to say...exactly what they said, fool, charlatan, (traitor), cast away his fortune, not spoken of any more, turned on his flock, etc. Which is doubly funny because if he did have a change of heart that was motivated by altruism/fatigue rather than greed, then the fact that they use HIS followers as sacrificial lambs in every aspect of this scheme, probably is what pushed him over the edge.
