I'm half Filipino half European American, the reason why Filipino people have diverse feautres is because over the past 2,000 years different people from different Asian countries have immigrated to the Philippines and assimilated to the Filipino population, way before the Spaniards and the Americans colonized the Philippines. Hinduism arrived from India to the Philippines and influenced Philippine mythology from 1,100 years ago. Plus the Boxer Codex depicts foreigners from different Asian countries in the Philippines at the time of the arrival of the Spaniards. Also, the Boxer Codex depicts Japanese and Chinese people living in the Philippines as early as the 1500's, and they even found Japanese pottery not just in Luzon, but even in southern Cebu Island. Plus, National Geographic did DNA tests on Filipino people, and they found out that Filipino people are 53% Southeast Asian, 36% East Asian (Chinese and Japanese). Through DNA testing, I found out from Sequencing.com Inc. and DNA Consultants that I also have Japanese and Chinese ancestry, and if you look at my mom and some of my cousins in the Philippines, you can tell that very clearly b/c my mom and some of my cousins in the Philippines have Northeast Asian feautres, as well as some of my Filipino friends as well. So for Filipinos to look Japanese and Chinese, should be no surprise given the level of Japanese and Chinese immigration to the Philippines.

North Luzon used to have Japanese Settlements even before the spaniards. Mostly from the Ryukyu Okinawan Kingdom Most notably in Agoo La Union and Aparri but its spread thru out even reaching Manila :)

When a Filipino looks attractive, foreigners always assume they’re mixed. Filipinos are Austronesian, genetically speaking, lowland Filipinos share DNA ancestry with the Igorots (highland Filipinos) that could look East Asian. So if a lowland Filipino have “east asian features,” it could be either of the two - they have east asian ancestry or it’s just them being austronesian. Austronesian usually pertains to a language family but it is a genetic marker too. Josh and Gelo are full Filipinos. Gelo actually has similar bone structure as another ppop idol Taneo who is half Igorot.

Filipinos have different looks. The major ones are these: 1. The Pure Autronesians which we consider the Morenos/as. They're pure-blooded Filipinos who are in fact pure Autronesians. They have brown skin because of two possible reasons: either genes or natural tanning. 2. Mestizo/a de Español. These Filipinos are half Austronesian and half Spanish or any nationality that is part of the "White Race." There are Filipinos out there that have Caucasian features since they're half white. Most of them are half Spaniards, half White American, or half white Australian. 3. Mestizo/a de Sangley a.k.a. the Chinitos/as. These are Filipinos who look like East Asians simply because they have East Asian blood most notably Chinese blood. They have East Asian features like fair skin and slanted eyes (some don't have this kind of eyes). Sometimes, they have fair skin not because they are half but because they are Austronesians. Some Austronesians have fair complexion. After all, Austronesians were once East Asians and they ultimately came from mainland China. there u have it, the major looks of Filipinos. The minorities were not even mentiones but the point is that Filipinos do not have same faces. We're diverse and have spectrums of looks and identities.
