Here's my theory on the construction origin in the cartoon. I think when they were on cybertron everything we saw in the flashback in the episode " The Secret Of Omega Supreme" happened when they came to earth they were damaged and by the episode "Heavy Metal War" the decepticons had rebuilt them and that's what Megatron was referring to when he said they built them. Now I also wanna address this in the episode " The Five Faces Of Darkness Part 4" we see the constructiocons building Megatron people have used this to show how confusing their backstory is and I don't understand why. It's my belief that the constructicons appearance in the flashback in "Five Faces Of Darkness Part 4" was an animation mistake. I belive this for 3 reasons 1. The constructicons never speak in the flashback 2. They aren't named in the flashback at all and 3. That episode was animated by AKOM (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) Every episode of Transformers they animated had an animation error of some kind and The Five Faces Of Darkness Five Parter was littered with errors and I believe this is one of them. It frustrates me that fans don't think that is was an error because they know AKOM made tons of mistakes with the animation do they really think that animating the constructicons in a flashback was beyond them?

@@ASMRRetro AKOM mostly animated season 3 they only animated three episodes from season 2. I'll tell you this when Transformers wasn't animated by AKOM the animation looks gorgeous for a cartoon from the 80's. A large reason why most of the show was well animated might have to do with the animation studios they hired (say for AKOM) were from Japan and if you've watched any anime you'd know how beautifully animated Japanese cartoons can look. Yes even episodes that weren't from AKOM had errors but those were common in those days and I let them slide.

Despite the confusion of the construction origin story in the cartoon they were way more relevant characters in the cartoon in the comic they were just there and could've been written out of a lot the stories they were in. When people say a character had a proper origin in the comic it annoys me, because a proper origin for a character in one piece of media vs another doesn't equal better characterization. What equals good characterization is good characterization.
