I saw this show when I lived in NYC, it was ok, but the thing that really impressed me was the energy and personality of the performers, they had a warmth, and a talent for making people happy ❤️❤️

STOMP came from a busking band called Pookisnackenburger, who played in Churchill Square in Brighton, UK, in the early 1980s. Luke Cresswell & Steve McNicholas were the Founders of Pooki & STOMP. Pooki even played in my shop, in '82.

With the cost of theater tickets you'd think the owners could update the dressing rooms.

The paying for the rent on the building, Electricity bills, water bills, other bills they may have, paying staff, getting props and stock for hospitality, instruments, fixing light fixtures guest seats, a-lot more i probably haven’t thought of, they all obviously come first ?

In the end everything looked great! I do hope George and his team replaced that "stuffed" window and also replaced the window A/C unit. I expect the drywall will help with insulation as I saw a small heater in one of the rooms. I just hope the rooms don't get mildew/mold issues because they rushed the drying schedule, especially because the water problems were due to the GTTR Show's fault - their hot lights. These actors deserve updated backstage rooms and they will be encouraged to keep the rooms clean and tidy.

If you are an audiophile, or a classically-trained musician, you MAY want to bring/wear earplugs to protect your hearing because this show is LOUD! Especially, now it's indoors rather than outside as was the busking version.

The dressing rooms have definitely been rescued! Never seen a space that needed it more. Was a little chuffed that in such a creative space, you guys didn't go for an amazing mural or art work on the small far end walls. You've done it in a few other rescues, so I thought it'd be done here for sure. Expected at least one piece of pull out furniture too, to maximize seating in such a small place. Ho hum! But good work overall.

I didn't see the window, or the shower...this episode was a bit light on process (did they have to rush d/t the flood? And how did they remedy those hot lights the second time around?)

They would not of been able to fit in the 200 advertisements if they had bothered to actually show how they done the make over, this show was like one big long advertisement!

All the complaints about no murals etc. My guess is that the building owner put restrictions on what could be placed on the permanent fixtures and the walls. The space is not owned by the artists, and a building owner would not want to have to go in and paint over a mural if it were to be used for a different purpose.

STOMP plays at the Orpheum Theatre, 299 seats, cheapest ticket $49, and they have a show 6 days a week! (yeah, count that up for the year). The theatre is owned by Liberty Theatres, I have been binge watching George, and this is the first show that I felt the recipients were unworthy, between the performers, the theatre owners and whoever else profits from this show, some of them should of sorted these dressing rooms out, and left George to work with people who really need his help. The theatre stands just off Broadway in Manhattan, this is one of the highest priced real estate areas on the entire planet, and Liberty Theatres (the owners) could not sort out 2 small dressing rooms for the artists? Pretty disgraceful!
@yes2day1004 жыл бұрын
In George's defense, this was not an expensive remodel. It probably cost 5% of what their usual remodels cost. So the theatre owners are not benefitting that much from the remodel. Just the updates to the bathrooms, and those were not expensive updates. The TVs and sound system will not necessarily end up with the theatre owners. It was a quick, uncomplicated, inexpensive remodel in an interesting place for very grateful people. I enjoyed watching it and seeing behind scenes in a theatre.

I agree but trying to get your boss to shell out the necessary money is often an exercise in futility. Come on owners, protect your best assets!
