Irony of the first steps of my disconnect with religion was Easter - it dawned on me that there was some irrational connection in regards to the Easter Bunny, eggs, candy, and somehow it’s connected to Christ rising…. I’d later learn how Christianity cannibalized pagan holidays as means to bring pagans to their faith - this would include Christmas which was the celebration of the winter solstice, after they outlawed the decoration of trees.
@danielkeizer41742 күн бұрын
Correct. The spring equinox was celebrated with symbols of fertility and new life. 🐑, 🐇, 🐥, 🥚. The most disgusting theft of symbols was to connect Jezus to a lamb and his death as innocence being sacrificed just to associate it with those pesky pagan symbols as to easily convert them. As they did with the yule tree. Even Halloween is basically pagan and reverted to a Christian conceptually fitted view point.

Listening to all the batshit crazy people who call in, don't listen, don't answer and when presented actual facts and common sense they give you the middle finger. Ugh! What a lazy minded fool.

@ And a million atheists call in yet they don’t get on the air and they don’t get to discuss actual scholarship in this area. No instead the focus of the show is on confrontation. It’s does not generate light rather heat as most people who consider themselves nonbelievers still rather watch this kind of an exchange rather than discussing the latest work in the field. This is to the study of theology what the national enquirer is to journalism. Moreover how many of these same people do they need to have the same conversation with in order to make their point? They are having the exact same conversation a decade later with different people. This is why we don’t use such methods in our universities. We study actual scholarship in the field. Spend less time talking to superstitious scientifically illiterate people and more time talking about works like that of Richard Dawkins.
