Fair play. 👍🏻 rivalry aside, the two clubs are what makes our city special and helps make it unique. When it’s needed, we back eachother and we both appreciate how important both clubs are to the city.

This sounds exactly like how Moshiri started, but he wouldn't stop interfering after luring Marcel Brands from PSV. He appointed a football strategist who also had great commercial experience and didn't let him do the job. Brands was the man who signed Braithwaite and wanted to take him full-time to Eindhoven. Happily for Everton, Thelwell and Dyche saw the talent and rejected the deal.

No they didn't. Everton rejected Eindhoven's offer of around 18m Euros. Everton wanted E20m and would have sold him for that.

Friedkin can’t be any worst than what we have had since the Johnson diabolical ownership , I first watched Everton in 1953/54 then regularly from 1961 , and this is the worst time I have been though .

It will be interesting to see if this is a move towards a multi club model or if this purchase means that these guys will be looking to offload Roma in the near future. A lot of sites/ stories are just talking about how they are monied up, serious considered people who already own another club, framing things like "the grown ups" have shown up to buy Everton. James insight into their poor management of Roma is a nice counterbalance.

Roma now have a second club in England named Everton football club just like Chelsea and strasbourg in France,so evertonians fan shouldn't panic about bad management cause I see revived attacking and recruitment in the youth system, then smartest summer signing in the first team in January.

Us evertonians can hopefully start to look forward to more positive times. As much as we’ve slammed the premier league at least they got us out of 777 partners deal . They just have to make sure the points deduction’s apply to everyone including the big boys ( not really big until 10 years ago 😜) utft🔵⚪️

I think Matt slater with his reasons why friedkin showed his interest. I'm sure the fact not only the football side of the Everton deal but the other uses for the stadium is massive its in the center of a big city on the sea front. I'm sure there interest was irresistible for them it's going to be a great opportunity not only football but big sporting musical events and cultural. It's a no Brainer and it's a big problem to other clubs who see the new ground as a threat

I've been very critical of Matt Slater in the past, sort of felt like he had it in for us during the PSR hearings. But this interview showed he was very knowledgeable about the club and the Friedkin group, as well as being compassionate towards the strife the fans have endured. Very happy to have changed my opinion :)

Roma fan here As always, James Horncastle was totally accurate when explaining what the Friedkin did in Rome. If I had to add something, I'd say that they have proven to be serious owners: they invested a lot of money in the club, they made the feminine section the best in Italy, the youth system was already good but more players break through the first team, the new stadium projects seems to be on the right tracks, etc. However, there is a major problem: their management of first team football is terrible. Appointing Mourinho was a first mistake to me (not to the majority of the fans though) and the first transfer window they had, led by the newly appointed sports director Thiago Pinto, was a disaster (Shomurodov for 20M, Abraham for roughly 50M, a 33-year-old Rui Patricio with 1 year of contract remaining for 15M and Matias Vina for 15M). After spending so much, we could not spend a lot during the 2 following seasons so we had to go for free agent players or loans to which we offered huge salaries (Lukaku, Dybala, Matic, Aouar, Renato Sanches, Wijnaldum). The results were still disappointing since with the 3rd highest payroll in the league, we never did better than 6th place. So in January they sack Mourinho and hire De Rossi for 6 months. After a good start, the club communicates in April that his contract will be extended (the contract will only be signed in June God knows why). Then they hire a new sports director, Ghisolfi from Nice. During the transfer window, they spend a lot of money (but manage to actually reduce the payroll) in order to build a team that fits the coach... only to sack him after 4 games, 3 of which were played when the transfer window was not over (the team was incomplete). In the last few days, Italian media revealed how results were not the real motive behind De Rossi's sacking. The cause was rather the fact that he had a terrible relationship with the now former CEO Lina Souloukou, who was in charge of almost everything at the club. Basically these guys do not know how to surround themselves with competent people. Fans were not so mad about it (after all, our recent history is not so much better than the results they have) until recently, when their incompetence led to a club legend being humiliated.

Didn’t De Rossi slap the female CEO?? If so can’t blame the owners, any respectable employer would’ve sacked him for that and he only had himself to blame.

Never heard of that. If it were true, I believe a lawsuit would have been filed and the media would have talked/written about it. He had a strong argument with Cristante, but nothing extraordinary in a football club (he played him after it happened)

The Saudi Prince can do business here, so I doubt there will be many hurdles there. And Jose Mourinho hasn’t been the definition of managerial ambition for about 10 years. The only thing he increases when he rocks up at your club is media scrutiny.
