You know I came to the conclusion that realistic acting becomes boring when there are not high stakes involved, dog day afternoon is realistic acting but still it's entertaining and emotionally resonant but movies like perfect days or the lunchbox or Manchester by the sea or nomadland are extremely boring for normal audience as there are no high stakes involved

this upload is perfect timing!! i’ve done a lot of stage acting before and am now trying to do more tv / film projects too, so i’ve been looking into the differences between these acting styles a lot lately! i’m going to treat this video as research ✍🏻

I like film and television more I’m not opposed to doing theater work I just did a production a few months ago, but if I had the chance between a film or a theater production I’m gonna choose film because I like the aspect of being on camera and telling a story to be seen by the masses. I also like the technicalities of film and tv.

I've taken drama classes and I like theater acting more than film acting. The reaction from an audience when I'm doing my stand-up comedy at an open mic feels better than just talking into a box (camera) when I'm doing a vlog or a film project. I think I like the theater stage more because you get an emotional reaction from an audience and you can't get that same kind of reaction when in front of a webcam.

I think film acting can be just as good as theatre acting because they both hold great potential from different perspectives.

Yes it’s a tough gig to make it in theatre and it definitely helps prepare you for film and screen acting

I have a lot of love for both comparing one and the others like comparing powerlifting and bodybuilding playing in the same world, but each has its nuances and focus for me. I feel film tells a better story just cause you can really home in and focus on the most minute details that someone in the back roll of the theaters not gonna catch but still much love for both

I would rather be a film actor!!Film actors might enjoy more flexibility in their schedules since movies are shot over a specific period, whereas theater actors have to commit to regular performances over an extended run. Moreover, film acting allows for a broader range of roles and genres due to the diverse nature of the film industry.

As a community theater actor of almost 3 years, I hope to move up to film acting. Theater is a lot of fun though don't get me wrong. Very grateful I get to do what I want to do.

I think it's interesting that most of the best British actors, who are often in my opinion the best actors, who make it to Hollywood or US TV, started out as theatre actors. Not sure if that's just a case of, British actors are more likely to start out in theatre, and they have to be so much better than the average to get noticed in the US, or if starting out in theatre gives them an edge. I think I agree that a film is a better way of telling a story, particularly to a mass audience. But, there is something special about being in a theatre where the story is being told live. Its like the difference between watching you favourite bands official music video and seeing them live. The official video with with almost perfect pitch and high production is good, but even though it's technically less perfect, nothing beats seeing them live (although these days depending on the genre you like they may not be singing live. I like metal so thankfully it pretty much always they are).

4:43 Honestly, I do not agree with this one. People out there are still delivering bad performances. No editing will save you from your lack of acting skills and experience

Well according to me, I think that in the theatre acting isolating yourself is much more easier then in the movies quiz in theatre you can take the stage as your world, the same cannot be done in film. And the amount of emotion breaking happening in film is not easy to overcome, through all the scenes specially if u r new to this. Both of them need there own way of approaching but has their own demerits and merits, like in films u get the "second" chance, but in theatre I guess no.

how can u compare theatre and Film acting? They are two completely different kind of things....

It's acting it will always be about acting because facts from Google says that the difference between Hollywood and Broadway is that theater actors hardly gets promoted to the big screens.

Film acting is much better i just have no idea how to start doing it. For theatre it’s a lot easier, there are hundreds of places that are putting on shows but I’m not having a lot of luck with film. Dose anybody know if there’s an organisation that dose or focuses on film acting.

Film, at just 129 years old, is a mere infant in the timeline of human history. Theatre, with roots stretching back over 2,500 years, and storytelling, which has been an integral part of human culture for at least 100,000 years, have far deeper connections to our shared humanity. It's ironic to see filmmakers pleading with audiences to "save cinema" by attending theaters, especially when they call it the film industry rather than a film charity. In an era of streaming platforms, Twitch, KZbin, and countless other ways for artists to connect with audiences, it's inspiring to witness the democratisation of entertainment. If film as we know it fades into obscurity along with its industrial trappings and compromises, so be it. Art evolves, and the degradation of one medium can pave the way for the flourishing of others. Let cinema die if it must, other forms of storytelling will thrive in its place.

With Andrew Garfield you’re comparing two completely different types of scenes. If he performed the scene from Angels in America on film, it would be about as loud because that’s the nature of the scene and the character at that moment. I agree with your point but the choice of clips here didn’t help.
