very fond memories I have of Bryan Rodwell, performing hilariously as if played by a beginning organist or hobby musician playing along with more wrong notes than you might think of, wrongly paused etc,,, Still have tg recording....🎹 🙃 😆 👍 🙏 🇳🇱

What a lovely sounding distinctive Wurlitzer this is!obviously a fine installation and of good size too, nice old standard heard lots in the UK in 30s theatre organ recordings. Nice extended version played beautifully.

Brings back memories of my youth. I played this on the marimba for an audition for the TED MACK AMATEUR HOUR in the 1950's when I was 14 years old but I lost to a trampoline act and came in second. Since it was an audition, no tape of it exists but I'll never forget the hours of practice with my piano accompanist who was so patient with me. The song always holds a dear spot in my heart. I went on to later play the Hammond in local dinner theaters in NJ and now I cheat using both a KORG & YAMAHA workstation/arranger to sound decent,

This arrangement of "NOLA" by Mr. Walt Strony is self- described as having "....more key changes than a cheap hotel...." Great arrangement anyway......Think the recording was one of him playing at a NORCAL event in the late 90's.

WWooowwwwwwww!!!!!! Very, very, nice!!! Nola is usually a 2 min. stint. Your version runs over 4 min. That's what I really like about it!!

That's probably because Mr. Strony made 9 (?) successive key changes on his last "fight with Nola." Building to a great finish! What's not to love?

Fabulous arrangement!

Few ornanists achieve the right tempo for Nola, nor the intricate counter melodies but Walt Strony does as well as a carefully balanced tonal palette and a controlled rhythmic foundation. Fine playing of a demanding piece - one of my favourites/

I really enjoyed that Martin! Wonderful music and such a big sound. It's as though there's a whole band playing. Cheers Mr V

Krughoff, huh? Now, if only we could get some recordings actually made on the Fisher Theatre Wurlitzer - that's the incredible, bizarre console shown, with Mayan carvings and corbels on a French-style case, and with a really odd spec too. Lovely recording of a tune I think always sounds best on an organ.

Love it! great song and stupendous on the mighty Wurlitzer! ... I used to listen to this radio show on KPFK (I think) back in the '90's called "Gee dad, It's a Wurlitzer!" and they played this magical version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that I've been haunted by ever since.... any leads? thanks for wonderful posts!

Hi Martin, thanks for uploading this wonderful piece. A favorite! Could you tell me which recording this is? Is it the same recording as where Walt plays "Hooray for Hollywood"? Thanks for letting me know!
