The EXP share in the 3DS games isn't so bad since you still had the option to turn it off, but when they made it mandatory in the Switch Pokémon games, that's where it became a problem, because now they removed the option to let the player train other Pokémon. I disagree, I like having a mix of old Pokemon with the new, because it can, for example, put Pokemon that you couldn't catch until near the end of the game (when you have no real room left to train a new party member) near the start or middle, IE Pawniard, a pretty late-game Pokemon in Unova, appearing in the mid-game of X and Y, or a bunch of past pseudo-legendaries having their first forms catchable at a plateau just south of Mesagoza in Scarlet and Violet. Fun fact Pokémon fusing with humans is not a fan idea as there is an actual manga about it called Pokémon Reburst which debuted in the March 9, 2011 issue of Weekly Shōnen Sunday and has never been translated to English. Trainers having more Pokémon is not a bad thing but i agree it is better to space the trainers out but does add to the challenge when important trainers like gym leaders, rivals, etc. Have 6 mons latter on in the game. It is to me another reason why the gen 6 games are so easy as not only do you have megas a mechanic hardly anyone in the game has, but they didn't balance around it like a lot of fan games that have megas do so like previous games the vast majority of npcs have less mons and sometimes worse movesets than you which made the games a breeze.

I don't think this is actually a hot take but: There's nothing androgynous about Gardevoir despite the mental gymnastics that some vocal minority makes to pretend that they don't see how feminine Gardevoir actually is and always has been. I've seen people getting a lot of hate just for saying that they want Kirlia to only be able to evolve into Gardevoir if it's female. Which is utter nonsense because they aren't saying anything weird. Kirlia should definitely only evolve into Gardevoir if female. I always make sure to catch a female Ralts when I'm planning to have a Gardevoir in my team. And I honestly wish they make the evolution line to only be able to evolve into Gardevoir if female in the new games. Pokemon is no stranger to making pokemon that are intentionally designed with one specific gender in mind. Gardevoir was always meant to be portrayed as feminine. Some people just get confused by the japanese name but that's actually a full on misinterpretation since Sirknight due to the way is pronounced can be read as Saa-knight which roughly translates to "Come here, knight". They could even use the pokedex entries to say that the Ralts line is naturally evolving into being a gender based evolution. Similar to how the wormadam/mothim line currently works. And that way they could justify Kirlia only evolving into Gardevoir if female in the new games. But an excuse isn't even necessary because they've already made changes to the ralts line in the past like adding the fairy type and adding it to the human-like group. Not to mention that Gardevoir's portrayal in pretty much all forms of media has been exclusively female. So I hope for them to also adjust the gender ratios for Gardevoir to be female only and that way be consistent with its design and portrayal. In fact, they've already started to do that for things like the tera raids battles with certain pokemon. Pokemon like eevee, meganium, delphox and primarina, which are overall clearly seen as feminine looking had been added to the tera raid den events exclusively as females. I mentioned Gardevoir but this idea also extends to other pokemon in the same situation like Machamp, Lopunny and Gothitelle, which were clearly designed with a specific gender in mind for their concepts and designs. Gardevoir is just the most known example.
@GeorgeDCowley4 ай бұрын
Arguably, Kirlia's the same, though.
@giboit.4 ай бұрын
@@GeorgeDCowley True, but Kirlia is a middle stage so it's not meant to be a permanent form anyways. Gardevoir on the other hand should definitely be a female only branch evolution of Kirlia.

My Hot Take I think the Pokémon Manga is the best thing to come out of Pokemon (in my opinion). it’s Funny, it introduces unique and cool new ideas ( like Yellow’s powers), it can be pretty dark at times, and it gives character development to a lot of the main Protagonists

I disagree with breeding being easier EVERY generation. Just look at Gen 9. First you have to be able to make an egg power sandwich, which you might not have the ingredients for. Then you have to stay in the picnic to keep getting eggs, meaning you can't HATCH the eggs at the same time like we used to be able to. And I have to only have the breeders in my party since the picnic will just randomly match any two compatible pokemon together.
@dubbingsync5 ай бұрын
It took me ages to work out I needed to make Sandwiches for Breeding… it makes no sense as to why that should be the way it’s done. I’m playing a game, not doing homework, it was bad enough being back in school in Scarlet.

I get your point about how we don't *need* anything but a new type would be cool to have, but I would rather they focused more on rebalancing the types they already have so they can both do more with what we already have while also buffing older pokemon. Ice and Bug types desperately need it and won't just get better with a new type alone.

I actually will say that black for Primal Groudon makes sense. If you look at it as more of a blackened ash color, it kinda vibes. And shiny Rayquaza makes sense because the strongest and most dangerous storm clouds are the black ones. Kyogre though, definitely should be different, can’t think of a good reason besides…deep ocean trenches are black via lack of light?

I mean imagine deep diving to the bottom of the hoenn ocean. All you can see are some bright lights swim by and circle around you. Hot take: Pokémon was a better “kids game” on the Gameboy than it is on the Switch. I’ve been playing Sword with my kid sister (8) for a little bit now and what I’ve noticed is that all the cutscenes and story dialogue are really wearing her down. She’s only 8 so having to read walls of text in order to understand what’s going on is challenging considering that she’s still learning how to read, not helped by all the British slang used that’s unfamiliar to an 8-year-old American. There’s also the problem of all the cutscenes. She doesn’t really care about the story, she just wants to catch cute monsters and explore this video game, and I can’t blame her, that’s how I played video games at her age. At the beginning of the game, all she wanted to do was go back to her house and explore it, but there was so much hand holding, she couldn’t even go near her home. She got frustrated and I had to talk her into pushing through. I could tell she wasn’t having fun and that upset me because I was really excited to introduce her to the games and franchise I loved as a kid. She loves the cards and I thought that playing through the game together could be a good bonding experience and even help her with her reading skills. I knew the game was dialogue heavy, but I didn’t anticipate it being this much of an issue. When I was younger, I played the Gen 2 and 3 games (on emulator, but still) and they were a blast. Now granted, I was already a bit older than her and I had better reading skills but I think that they were much better experiences for a young player simply because they were simpler and allowed for more freedom. They still required reading ability, but there was less to read and no real cutscenes to stop and wait for. I think that’s what made them appealing to kids to begin with, and I think some of that has been lost the modern titles. Now, it has been a while since I played these games and I don’t even think I finished them, so I could be misremembering things, but that’s just how I feel as a big brother and someone interested in education and education through non-traditional means such as video games. It’s just my opinion, and I’m willing to hear yours. Thank you for your time.

I don't have a problem with bipedal Pokémon in general, but I dislike it when their proportions are very humanlike. There's plenty of bipedal Pokémon that don't look very human at all, like Feraligatr and Excadrill. When it comes to the ones that do look more humanlike, my tolerance to their design still varies a lot. To take two close examples, I'm okay with Hitmonlee because while it does sort of resemble a human, its legs are segmented and it doesn't have a neck, while Hitmonchan just looks like a boxer with a weird head and a weird outfit. I used to dislike Incineroar, because I think Torracat is really cool. I was pretty disappointed when the Alola starters' final forms were leaked, although Smash Ultimate has warmed me up to Incineroar a bit since then. I still dislike the trend they've been on where they make every final starter evolution look like a furry cosplayer. Decidueye and Skeledirge are honestly the only post-XY final starter evolutions that I don't dislike (although I dislike Rillaboom for a different reason, namely that it looks too generic).

My biggest hot take in Pokemon is that Ash’s Pikachu should’ve evolved in the first season, so Raichu could be the mascot early on. A mascot for the franchise as a whole wasn’t established at that point, and Pokemon Horizons shows us that evolution for the main character’s partner Pokemon isn’t completely off the table. They were too cowardly to evolve Pikachu early on, and as such, they missed their chance to do so without causing the Pikachu fanatics to go nuts.
