I bought a g410 7w a few years ago and loved it that much that I bought 5 and 6 hybrids to match. I've since bought a 9w and i210 irons, glide wedges and a tyne putter 🤣 not because I'm a ping fan per se, they're just such good clubs and so easy to use! The only non ping club I have is the mini driver, I don't like a big headed driver on a really long shaft.

Nice one Andy. I've used 4 and 5 hybrids for several years. I do have a tendency to over draw them though. So a few months ago I swapped to G425 4 and 5 hybrids. I find them so much straighter in the flat settings! Not many makes offer that flat lie option. I had also noticed my 6 and 7 irons only gapped on average by about 5 yards. So I have just added a 6 hybrid too. Gapping is now much better and more consistent.

I carry 12 clubs and if you count the putter 7 of them have headcovers 🤣 driver, 5,7 and 9w, 5 and 6h and then 8i to sw. I just want to get the ball in the hole with as little effort as possible and that's the set up that allows me to do it, don't care what anyone thinks.

I actually have the 4, 5, 7 , 9 and 11 woods. Hybrid set up similar. Golf is more fun with lots of options. Hope your playing well !!!! :). Joe

I have Ping G425 5 and 4 hybrids which are so reliable, i have a 3 hybrid (19 deg) which I find much harder to hit so I am trying out a 7 wood to see if that works better for me. Really need this kind of review right now as I am in a quandary. I just turned 82, so it's time to consider options to regain some lost distance. Just had the shafts on my forged blades changed from 120 gram stiff Royal Precision Rifle Lite to 87.5 gram stiff Nippon NS Pro Zelos 8 (actually the builder at my range has a lot of the heads and built a second set with the same heads so I can compare the two). Have not had a chance to play a round with the new shafts yet. But to my surprise and frustration, at the indoor practice bay hitting against the screen today, when I compared the 6 iron from the old vs the new set I found I got no gain with the lighter shafts, in fact hit the older heavier shaft just a bit longer. and neither gave me the few extra yards of carry I have been hoping to get. This might change after I become more used to the rather drastic change in shaft weight (swing weight is almost the same D4 in the old vs D3 in the new). In the past year I have added a 21 degree 7 wood in regular flex and recently a Callaway Paradym 24 degree 9 wood regular flex. Some of this is a response to recommendations you make along with others. The 7 wood is meant to replace my 3 and 4 irons. The 9 wood is meant to replace my 5 iron. Now the question is, should I think about a utility or hybrid to replace the 6 iron? In addition, would it be better to have a 26 degree hybrid instead of the 9 wood? I took a few shots at the indoor range screen today but will go back to do more complete testing. However, it seems I hit the 26 degree as far as the 24 degree 9 wood. If I can get a 15 yard gap between these long clubs rather than a 10 yard gap, it might be sensible. And a new Paradym hybrid would be less expensive than the Paradym 9 wood, which I can still return for full value in exchange.

Great video. Please keep the solid material coming. As far as clubs go I have ping driver, ping woods, ping irons, a ping wedge, ping putter. I was attempting an all ping kick for a while which started with the driver and putter. But when it comes to the hybrids I tried and tried in every setting but did not get along with g425 hybrids. I think they are amazing clubs in the hands of better golfers than I. I do however get along pretty darn good with the 6, 7, 8 callaway rogue st max hybrids and the callaway 3 super hybrid. I am now considering a paradym 4 or 5 hybrid to fill the gap between the 3 super hybrid and rogue st max 6 hybrid. How would you say paradym 4 hybrid stacks up against a rogue st max 4 hybrid out on the course? I did have a chance to hit a paradym 4 hybrid on a simulator at a local golf shop and I was really digging the looks, sound, feel, and results. Is paradym the next version of rogue st max or are they two completely different lineups geared toward different golfers? Very confusing.

Love your videos, Andy. It's great to see someone like yourself review clubs in realistic settings rather than just on a simulator. As for the hybrids, I prefer the way the Ping looks at address. It's more subtle and looks better to my eye. I used to play with G410s and never really took to them. My misses were both ways and never could get confident with them. I'm now playing with Cleveland XL Halos which I really like. Much more accurate. Only reason I'm considering switching is I'd like to put a 30* in my bag and Cleveland's highest loft is 27*. I'm going to give these Pings a try soon!

Loved the review! getting fitted currently and chose the Ping G430 irons. Stopped at the 6 iron. Plan on finishing the fitting when I get the full set delivered. The Ping G430 driver and the Callaway Paradym drivers were neck and neck! Ping had a softer feel off the face and I ended up with the LST version in my hand. Both were extremely forgiving with mishits! Taylormade Stealth 2 was close, but lost on the mishits. Very interested in looking at the gapping and distance with the two brands. My fitter did not have the Paradym woods delivered at this time. I will not be surprised to choose the Ping hybrids for the 4 & 5 iron. Then flipping to Callaway for the woods. Currently playing a Callaway Epic 3 wood that smoked the Ping G430 version. My fitter even stated that is going to be hard to beat.

The problem is that clubs meanwhile became unaffordable and with that pushing golf once again into the "posh and snob" category, being a sport for rich people only. Honestly, I can not afford it any longer and have to get clubs from 2 years before (which you cannot get fitted for any longer) or used once, and that sucks. With my speed, which is pretty average, I have decided that any iron with a loft of less than 25 degrees is likely to be a waste of time for me, I will not get enough launch. But equally I know that with hybrids a loft of less than 20 degrees is pointless. So my longest iron is a 5i, then a 4h (lofted up to 23 degrees), then a 7w Based on Andy's dry ball data I prefer the G430 hybrid, much more controllable - but I am biased, I play a G425 hybrid

@robertcourt8593
@robertcourt8593 Жыл бұрын
@Watches Journey it's a common misconception. It's because newer irons have a stronger loft than traditional irons. Manufacturers take loft off of irons so average golfers can say they hit their 7i longer than they used to but they also know there's a stigma towards higher lofted hybrids so they have weaker lofts on their hybrids. The longer shaft and the difference in style of the hybrid means that they generally fly longer than an equivalent hybrid.

Golfers need to learn that what matters is carry, spin, launch angle, maximum height, descent angle and stopping distance, and good gapping between clubs. The number on the bottom of the club is not important.

I am thinking of picking up either the G425 or the G430 4 hybrid. Any thoughts?

425s are great, and significantly cheaper! You probably won’t see any difference in distance either!

How to these compare the last season's Cleveland Hy-wood or even Cobra's one length hybrid?
@TheAverageGolfer
@TheAverageGolfer Жыл бұрын
The Hywood is 18 degrees so not comparable more in line with the cobra hybrid but personally prefer these

I play a 4,5, and 6 hybrid by Mizuno and there really is no comparison to long irons for me. The hybrids are superior in almost every regard with the possible exception of digging a ball out of deep, thick rough. The hybrids provide decent angles, as you have illustrated, but the deScent angles allow for shorter roll-out, shaving strokes.

For me the callaway driver looks stunning compared to the g430 driver and same with the woods but I have to say I prefer the look of the g430 hybrids

Both serve the purpose very well, for launch, feel and performance it’s just preference I could own either and enjoy them. Except for 1 thing. Ridiculous price. In Canada here the Ping will empty your wallet for $480 and the Callaway $470. That’s a lot for 1 club no matter what each club brings to the table. There are other hybrids equally capable of similar performance that are 2-5 years old, ahd the price doesn’t absorb all the funds we now need to pay for PLAYING the game. If costs keep going up as they have last 2 years, sadly the old myth that golf is a game only for the RICH… will come to pass. And we all work hard to get what we have, just some have it much easier. But nice review. I will be able to one day either of these, once they are about 10 years old and 1/3 the price.

I think new golf clubs may be for the rich but hopefully the game itself remains affordable

Never been a fan of the shallow face design of Ping fairways/hybrids. Mush more challenging off the tee and mid rough due to the design. Just not a very confidence inspiring design.

Never met a hybrid that didn't look ugly at setup, and these are ugly too. I'll stick to my 7 and 9 woods.
