Those were the days. I was about that age during that era. Kids wouldn't be interested in the monkey or man today unless it was to be cruel to them. Just watch how kids play when their parents aren't around. What has happened to humanity?

This was already a dated style of entertainment by the 50s. If something is novel it draws a crowd regardless of age. I regularly see young people and kids go to a 1900s style penny arcade here(musee mechanique), and their amused by these old machines despite their age. Soften you heart.

Thanks to human kind "progressing" it is no longer politically correct to make animals work for you - much less train a monkey in this fashion (believe you me the traditional training methods are horrendous, tho) A shame, another tradition relegated to old videos and historical files. My animatronic monkey can't do all those tricks, but it also is not suffering abuse...

Once, before social security and pensions, people had to keep working into old age. They did what they could to earn money, and if you can keep a dog or cat, train them and keep them cooped up in your house, why can't you keep a monkey?

Pets who are just bored at home all day are in a much worse state than pets who get mental and physical stimulation. Look at search and rescue dogs, police and military dogs, therapy dogs in hospitals. Pets need stimulation too. How dare you cry "shame" and "abuse" for giving a pet an actual good life, rather than locking it away its whole life?

I know a couple hundred people who own monkeys. Every one of them are well trained and not a single one of the "methods are horrendous". They're loved and treated better than most children are.
