Must point out (that it's no fault of your own) that the Google Earth image that shows an aerial view of the city must be quite old as it doesn't even show the Portier Cove construction/land reclamation project that is currently going on. They've even backfilled the site and are now above grade. Regardless, excellent video B1M.

The preparation for this race is far more impressive than the actual race itself. todays F1 cars are 70% larger than they were in 50s-60s-70s and the Monaco race track has not adapted to this so you get far less action as far as maneuvering and team strategy.

Have you tried to drive Monaco at all ? In a Sim or real life ? Every Driver has to be inch perfect every lap for the entire lap. It is the small things that matter at Monaco. I am retired now but worked for about 6 years for a company who had its head office in Monaco. I visited the place several times a year and I was privileged to be there one year when the Grand Prix was on and another year when there was rallying going on. I can’t remember the years, but it was between 2003 and 2010. The atmosphere during the events was second to none and there are plenty of good bars along the seafront. Exciting times but unfortunately most of the other times it was just like living in a concrete jungle with plenty of dog poo on the streets. The place is so small it is outstanding that they can host these world class events. If you are into expensive cars, then it’s the place for you with quite a few showrooms as well as quality vehicles on the road. The vessels moored in the bay are of the best quality anywhere, that I have seen.

You'd be surprised how unsafety 50-80s f1 race was -there we're no such thing as a survival cell (it's the part around the cockpit that is purposely made to be very durable (almost indestructible) just in case of a fatal crash) they only have roll cage and even then it's flimsy af -there we're no pit limiter which means driver can enter and exit at full speed everytime they go to pit -Race officials (like the one you're pointing at) can enter and exit the track whenever they please without needing to deploy safety car -everytime a car is broken drivers are instructed to park the car on the side of the track and will be retrieved when the race is over, yes *when the race is over* -protective/crash barriers are very unsafe and often used materials that are not fit to be a crash barriers in the first place -safety car is only deployed when weather becomes a problem and when a *massive* crash is happening -I could go on and on explaining how dangerous f1 was during those time periods but I suggest you watch about it on KZbin or at least google it instead

@@Ozymandias1 Le Mans and F1 are different series. Even though it led to Mercedes pulling out of both Endurance racing and F1. The reason why people didn’t think too much about safety was because people assumed it just came with the territory. They had the mindset of ‘If you think it’s too dangerous then don’t race’. It wasn’t until people like Jackie Stewart began pushing for change in the 60s and 70s that things began changing. The biggest safety advancement in Motorsport though was the introduction of Sid Watkins as the track doctor in the 70s. Rules have very rarely changed due to events. They have changed due to how people react to those events. The issue with the wreck at Le Mans in 1955 was that they didn’t know how to prevent this in the future as a lot of the technology and track safety innovation had yet to be invented and until it had been invented, drivers and spectators simply accepted the risks involved.

Used to watch F1 religiously back during the Schumacher/Hakkinen rivalry days. Used to watch it live, but due to a job change with different hours, I'd videotape it, and watch it when I got home from work. Now I stream tv, and can't video tape or dvr it anymore. So I'm not as involved as I once was. However Monaco was my favorite race of the year. When I hit the lottery I'm gonna go at least once. LOL
