When did the band start using two drummers? I know Richard Manuel occasionally took over from Helm, but there's another guy with drum kit in the picture, Terry Cagle.

They started using the two drummers when they reunited in 1983. The Band in the mid-80’s (with Jim Weider on guitar) only had Levon drumming. Then when they reformed in the 90s for Jericho, Randy Ciarlante came on as the second drummer.

Im guessing it was so Levon could get out in front more and give Richard more options as well..Not to mention Rick playing Guitar.. an incredible concert. Garth was on point all night 🙇‍♂️
