The video is great, but until Ivan Moody goes out and with all the money VETS have put in his pocket, builds housing or pays some guys rent for 5 years or something I am going to say he is a war profiteer. It's all well and good to make a video, but if you have the ability to act and do not, your words mean nothing.

@@maggierezac5820 i stand by my statement, plenty of people did USO shows in far more hostile warzones...they just didn't need to make a spectical of it. These guys use the war to sell record. So until they open their big ass houses up or uss their tour bus or any of their other hundreds of ways they could be more active in getting these homeless vets the housing, medical, psych or employment help they need, they are no more effective than a tv commercial. Luke 12:48 - "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Plenty of reporters are actually embedded in the shit, not just hanging out back at base, you think they get half the credit these guys get? I approve of their message, but hollow words change NOTHING.

My dad served in the navy for 8 years. I’m 25 and there are still things my dad won’t tell me about what happened back there. He’s almost 60 and he only gets 2 hours of sleep at night at most. Any noise at all will wake him up. It makes me wonder if something happened to him back there beyond what he’s told me. I’m about to cry writing this as a grown man because I’ve only ever seen my dad cry once in my whole life. When I was 15 he sat me down to talk about the war, because earlier that day I told him I wanted to join the service. He cried that night. That’s why five finger death punch is and always will be my favorite band.

My daddy was in the Navy in Vietnam. When he got sick with stage 4 cancer when I was 8 is when my brothers and learnt the hard way of what my daddy went through . He was going through chemo and was in very very strong pain meds and couldn't control the flashbacks most of the time and we would be grabbed up and sometimes beat like he was living in those moments when his was in war. He didn't much talk about what he went through but he was a proud Veteran and taught us the march songs, if your on time your late and if your 15 mins early you're still late ❤, pull yourself up by the boot straps and so on. Love your daddy. I miss mine so much.

Whenever I hear this song, I'm reminded of my uncle. When he finally returned from service, he almost immediately was homeless. His wife took his kids, and all of his possessions, and sold them while he was away. For over a year, we could not physically find him. Then one day my mother found her brother living next to a dumpster in some random ally, and called my grandmother to get me and my brother out there to get him home. He stayed with us for over a year, and I had never seen someone so broken and mentally absent before, it took several months before he spoke more than one word responses to anything. In the end, it got worse before it got better, but he, with lots of love and family support, got back on his feet, eventually found his kids, and got his life back together.

Dylan Chiesa do you think the Russians were any different once they started defeating the Nazi’s? Or how about what they did to their own people? What about the Japanese as they raped Nankin? Hell, even the British and Americans did some atrocities during that war; but you focus on Nazis. I’m not sympathetic towards any country when it comes to the horrors of war. The people who strap up and head out aren’t always the same as those commanding. Are there some messed up people? Sure. But that’s everywhere.

@@dylanchiesa602 Real Nazi's that fought in ww2 are all dead pretty much there was lists of high risk individuals all marked as war criminals most were executed when America came in and raided their camps and bases. All nazi officals and criminals of war were executed on spot when found (soldiers arrested). So even making that argument is stupid because it's actually illegal to be a Nazi in Germany. Any Nazi flags are banned in Germany and idealizing Nazi's is warranted for arrest. America is actually the main issue with what is what we call Nazi's today which are Neo-Nazis new age new generation of Nazi's fueled on outdated toxic and politically unjust mindsets of setting standards that a white male with blue eyes and blonde hair is the superior human and sadly that stance still exists because fucked people raised fucked children that found hitlers ideology. I myself would be seen as superior by that mindset and it digusts me because my family is from Germany originally and fought against Germany in ww2. I still have my great grandfathers gas mask. The hardships the German people faced should have died when that war ended not for some sick individuals to think was good enough to bring into the 21st century in a new country.

Same here. My father was (Is, once you are you never aren't) a Marine. He was a marine for 11 years and then in the air Force for another 11 and now secret service for the past 30 years. So needless to say I grew up in a military home and time's weren't always great, But my dad definitely is instilled everything he learned into me and my older brothers (Youngest of 3 boys) and I can't even put to words how proud and thankful for him I am and the US military because that was his only real father figure. This video always hits me so hard because the stats are so true, I've grown up always asking "Why hasn't Uncle 'PutNameHere'?" And him an my mother would always tell us some story of where they are and not let us know that they were homeless and then only a few days/weeks/months/years later we are at a funeral for them and it's always heart breaking, you never get use to losing someone, especially to suicide; when the thing that they did wrong in their life seems to be signing up to help protect our country. It's never fair... But neither is life. This video always reminds me of that and always brings me to tears. This is the first time I've actually seen a veteran react to it though. And I really hope he dose what he said "I need to do something" every little bit of help is needed to help our soldiers to get back on their feet once they get home, and keep them on their feet.

Every single time I watch this video. I weep for all of my brothers and sisters who hold the burden in.. my family tree is littered with WW2, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield memories. Thanking a veteran sometimes triggers and let your eyes be the judge before you react. Veterans should never ever have to worry about a home, worry about their family, worry period. Our flag means a little more to a veteran.

My father and all of my uncles are veterans. They all died young carrying the burdens of what they witnessed in battle. My heart breaks at how poorly our Veterans are treated. They deserve much more than a flag and a headstone at their gravesite. No veteran deserves to be homeless or looked down upon. They are all heroes in the truest sense of the word. May God bless them all!

Army vet here. OEF, OIF, and GWOT. Seeing bands like this speaking up for fellow soldiers and veterans is amazing. I’ve seen more of my brothers put in the ground after they were out than while in. It’s time for our country to take care of those that sacrifice everything so the rest can sleep peacefully.

My father went decades with medical issues and undiagnosed PTSD from being in Vietnam. He never had severe issues and would never seek assistance because he felt since he wasn't infantry and was stationed at a base others deserved the help and he didn't. He finally listened to us a few years ago and joined a local veterans group and began going to the VA. It turned out many medical problems he had were likely from being exposed to Agent Orange just from being in country, especially the area he was stationed. Now he wishes he had gone years ago, but is thankful he eventually did decide to go.

I can't listen to this song or watch the video without crying, even now. As a veteran, I have been several statics that they state in this video, and it pains me to see that nothing is being done to improve this. 5FDP has always supported the troops and they have helped me through some tough times. Check out their cover of "Gone Away" (originally by The Offspring. They have a great way of painting a visual image of someone who suffers with loss and PTSD in that video. I can attest. Patriotism is very trendy it seems, and it appears that the trend wore off around 2010. I joined in September of 2000, and was med out in 2009. Almost half way there. The VA has gotten better since Trump has taken over, but they still have a long way to go. Thank you all for your service brothers! No civilian will ever understand. OIF 05-06 & 07-08 11B all the way!
