This one hurts.. I wear the bracelets of the two men that pulled me out of my burning Humvee after an IED attack. They were killed in subsequent small arms fire. My left leg was broken, my right shoulder was torn out of place, and I was trying not to black out. I woke up three days later on a medivac to Ramstein Air Force Base. It was there when I was told of their deaths. To this day, I struggle with the fact that I am still here and they are not. I remember eating barbecue with them and having beers at our deployment party. War is hell and some of us are stuck in that hell even after the war is over.

I feel ya brother. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2015 and had served in Fallujah Iraq in 2004 during Operation Phantom fury/Al-Fajr and then in Ramadi Iraq in 2006 during the battle for Ramadi. I then went on to serve in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in 2008 Operating out of Camp Leatherneck, then again in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in 2010 during Operation Moshtarak and finally 2013 again in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan with 3/5 Marines. I had been wounded in 2006 in Ramadi Iraq i hadn't been badly wounded i had been shot thru my left wrist. It was in 2013 with Darkhorse 3/5 that i was badly wounded when a ANA soldier tripped an IED and a 3 hour firefight ensued. I was knocked unconscious and peppered with shrapnel from the IED blast. It was sometime after the blast i was shot in my lower right leg just above my ankle that disintegrated about 4 inches of my tibia. Another Marine actually one of my bestfriends ran to me and started to drag me back. He ended up being hit and i was shot again this time under my left arm where my body armor didn't cover. The round went thru my left lung and exited out my back, i don't remember anything after that i was told i had passed out. When i came to i was in Ramstein Germany getting ready to be sent to Walter Reed. I was at Walter Reed when i was told that my bestfriend who was dragging me to safety had actually been killed, i was told that he died in the helicopter while we were being medavaced. That really fucked me up i felt and still to this day feel that i was responsible for his death. I know that's not true but it's hard not to feel responsible.

Facts about the band and one if its members: Zoltan Bathory is a founding board member of the veterans nonprofit Home Deployment Project in Las Vegas (Home Deployment Project works to save and reintegrate homeless veterans) and sits on the Board of Advisors at VETPAW (Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife) an anti-Poaching organization operating on the African continent, composed of US combat veterans. Five Finger Death Punch have played many military benefit concerts, visited bases around the world and spearheaded a fundraising campaign for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.[1] In 2014, the band launched a campaign that raised over $225,000. The band used their recent music video for their latest single "Wrong Side of Heaven" to focus on the theme and launched website 5fdp4Vets.com. They also started selling a custom jersey which was designed by Bathory, on Indiegogo. The funds raised went to organizations that raise awareness about PTSD.

If you want a song specificly for the veterans... Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell. Back when they didn't loose Band Identity to their Label.
@TokiWartooth965 жыл бұрын
That depends... Their 1st album was still one of their best, I'd probably say No one Gets Left Behind is close to their pace, too...

I've seen people do military tribute videos for Far From Home, too... Easy to interpret the lyrics from that song to fall in this line, but definitely have to agree that Wrong Side of Heaven hit the nail on its head... Being a Veteran, myself, it's definitely powerful...

Im a fan of both and love it honestly. I lost my best friend who was about to become my sister in law to a drunk driver. FFDP was one of her favorite bands and when this song came it. It reminded me of her. I cried for days on end after. It def is a song that can relate to a lot of people for different reasons.

Wounded Warrior is a great charity to get help to veterans that need help. They give about 60% of what they receive to veterans the rest goes towards running the charity and marketing/ads. I've been told some charities only pass along 10% of what they bring in to their actual cause.

Stone Rayven no. This song is a COVER of the song written by The Offspring. You’re way off on this. There might have been an inspiration for covering the song to make it their own, but these words, this SONG is original and by The Offspring and was about Dexter Holland’s (the lead singer) girlfriend being killed in a car accident. The song was written in 1997, 8 years before FFDP was even a thing.

This song really hits a personal area with me...i contracted 5 years in the middle east, 4 years for the military, 2 in Iraq, 3 in Afghan, worked with a 7 man team looking for HVT(high value targets) and gathering Intel from within the populace, and I lost a few brothers over there, but the worst of the pain comes from those brothers ive lost here at home, that became apart of the 22 vets lost daily...it would be awesome if there was more awareness brought to the front concerning this...love what you guys are doing, thank you, and let's not forget those here at home that are lost, and too often forgotten, I am the last of my original team, and one of 4 to make it home, and as of Jan 17,2019, I am the last living member, a heavy burden i bear daily...again...thank you for not forgetting.
